Richard Hely Hely-Hutchinson, 1st Earl of Donoughmore (29 January 1756 – 22 August 1825), styled The Honourable Richard Hely-Hutchinson from 1783 to 1788, was an Irish peer and politician. Biography He was the son of Rt. Hon. John Hely-Hutchinson and Christiana Hely-Hutchinson, 1st Baroness Donoughmore. In 1776, he stood as Member of Parliament in the Irish House of Commons for two different constituencies. He sat for Dublin University to 1778 and Sligo Borough to 1783. Subsequently, he represented Taghmon, County Wexford, from 1783 until 1788, when he succeeded to his mother's title. In 1789, he was elected Grandmaster of the Grand Lodge of Ireland, a post he held until 1813. He commissioned the building c.1790 of the Georgian style Knocklofty House near Clonmel in County Tipperary. He was created Viscount Donoughmore, of Knocklofty, Co. Cathal Buí Mac Giolla Ghunna (c. 1680 – 1756) was an Irish poet. Biography Cathal Buí Mac Giolla Ghunna (?1680-1756) is one of the four most prominent south Ulster and north Leinster poets in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. He has been described as an Irish-speaking Christy Moore, an incisive ballad singing entertainer for a totally Irish-speaking community of poor people living at or below subsistence in the early 18th century. He was one of a school of ballad poetry that included Peadar Ó Doirnín, Art Mac Cumhaigh, and Séamas Dall Mac Cuarta. Mac Giolla Ghunna was probably born in Fermanagh and, having initially studied to be a priest, settled for a career as a rake-poet. Elizabeth Hamilton (1756 or 1758 – 23 July 1816) was a Scottish essayist, poet, satirist and novelist, who in both her prose and fiction entered into the French-revolutionary era controversy in Britain over the education and rights of women. Early life She was most probably born on 25 July 1756, though the date is often given as 1758. She was born in Belfast, the third and youngest child of Charles Hamilton (''d''.1759), a Scottish merchant, and his wife Katherine Mackay (''d''.1767). In Belfast Hamilton's parents were on familiar terms with the town's prominent "New Light" Presbyterian families and with their Scottish Enlightenment social and political ideas. Her later thoughts on child education were greatly influenced by David Manson's co-educational English Grammar School, which her older sister Katherine attended with other children from this progressive milieu. Vice-Admiral Charles James FitzGerald, 1st Baron Lecale PC (Ire) (30 June 1756 – 18 February 1810), styled Lord Charles FitzGerald between 1761 and 1800, was an Irish naval commander and politician. Background FitzGerald was the third son of James FitzGerald, 1st Duke of Leinster, and Lady Emily, daughter of Charles Lennox, 2nd Duke of Richmond and the second of the famous Lennox Sisters. He was the brother of William FitzGerald, 2nd Duke of Leinster, Lord Henry FitzGerald and Lord Edward FitzGerald. Through his mother he was a great-great-grandson of King Charles II.
