Daniel O'Reilly (bishop)
Daniel O’Reilly (1700–1778) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Clogher from 1747 to 1778. Born in Drumgora, Lurgan, County Cavan, Ireland, he was ordained to the priesthood in June 1728. He became President of the Irish College, Antwerp on 24 July 1732. Sir William Gore, 3rd Baronet
Sir William Gore, 3rd Baronet PC (Ire) (died 1700) was an Anglo-Irish baronet and magistrate. He was the oldest son of Sir Ralph Gore, 2nd Baronet and his wife Anne Caulfeild, second daughter of William Caulfeild, 2nd Baron Caulfeild. In 1661, he succeeded his father as baronet. Gore was appointed Custos Rotulorum of Leitrim in 1684, an office he held until his death in 1700. He was sworn off the Privy Council of Ireland. He married Hannah Hamilton, daughter of James Hamilton and niece of Gustavus Hamilton, 1st Viscount Boyne, and had by her three sons and five daughters. Gore died in 1700 and was succeeded in the baronetcy by his oldest son Ralph. Henry Colley (1648–1719) was an Irish Member of Parliament. Early life Henry Colley, born in 1648, was the son of Dudley Colley, MP for Philipstown, and the former Anne Warren, daughter of Henry Warren. cites His paternal grandparents were the former Anne Peyton (the daughter of Sir Christopher Peyton) and Sir Henry Colley, who acquired substantial lands in County Wexford. Education Colley was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. Career Colley represented County Kildare from 1698 to 1699. James Stopford, 1st Earl Of Courtown
James Stopford, 1st Earl of Courtown (1700 – 12 January 1770) was an Irish politician. Courtown was the son of James Stopford, of Courtown, County Wexford, who represented Wexford County in the Irish House of Commons, and his wife Frances (née Jones). He succeeded his father as member of parliament for Wexford County in 1721, a seat he held until 1727, and then represented Fethard (County Wexford) from 1727 to 1758. In 1756 he was appointed High Sheriff of Wexford. In 1758 he was raised to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Courtown, of Courtown in the County of Wexford. Four years later he was further honoured when he was made Viscount Stopford and Earl of Courtown, in the County of Wexford, also in the Peerage of Ireland. Family Lord Courtown married Elizabeth, daughter of the Right Reverend Edward Smyth, Bishop of Down and Connor, and his first wife and cousin Elizabeth Smyth, in 1727. Roman Catholic Bishop Of Clogher
The Bishop of Clogher is an episcopal title which takes its name after the village of Clogher in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Following the Reformation, there are now parallel apostolic successions: one of the Church of Ireland and the other of the Roman Catholic Church. History Clogher is one of the twenty-four dioceses established at the Synod of Ráth Breasail in 1111 and consists of much of south west Ulster, taking in most of counties Fermanagh and Monaghan and parts of Tyrone, Cavan, Leitrim and Donegal. Frequently in the Irish annals the Bishop of Clogher was styled the ''Bishop of Oirialla''. Between c. 1140 to c. 1190, County Louth was transferred from the see of Armagh to the see of Clogher. During this period the Bishop of Clogher used the style ''Bishop of Louth''. The title ''Bishop of Clogher'' was resumed after 1193, when County Louth was restored to the see of Armagh.
