Giuseppe Palmieri (painter)
Giuseppe Palmieri (1674 - May 18, 1740) was an Italian painter of the late Baroque period. Palmieri was born in Genoa. Orphaned as a baby, he came into the care of an uncle. As a boy, after his uncle died, he was apprenticed to an unidentified Tuscan painter, with whom he travelled through Italy, including a long stay in Sicily. Returning to Genoa, he joined the large studio of Domenico Piola, where he first gained independent commissions. He was very religious, and completed without pay some of his works for the monasteries of the Capuchin Friars (now mostly preserved in the church of the Holy Conception in Genoa). Some pictures depicting hunting scenes were painted for King John V of Portugal. In this style of painting, he was influenced by Castiglione. He fathered many children. Giovanni Costanzi
Giovanni Costanzi (1674–1754) was an Italian gem engraver of the late-Baroque period. He was the head of a family of gem-makers and artists in Naples. His sons Carlo and Tommaso were also a gem engravers, while his other son Placido became a painter. Giovanni later moved and worked the rest of his life in Rome. Diego Francesco Carlone
Diego Francesco Carlone (1674 – 25 June 1750) was an Italian sculptor. He was born in Alta Valle Intelvi, Scaria into a family of artists. His father owned a workshop where Carlone learned the sculpting trade and eventually inherited the business. The workshop produced stucco decorations for a number of churches in the neighboring area. A caricature is a rendered image showing the features of its subject in a simplified or exaggerated way through sketching, pencil strokes, or other artistic drawings (compare to: cartoon). Rococo
Rococo (, also ), less commonly Roccoco or Late Baroque, is an exceptionally ornamental and theatrical style of architecture, art and decoration which combines asymmetry, scrolling curves, gilding, white and pastel colours, sculpted moulding, and ''trompe-l'œil'' frescoes to create surprise and the illusion of motion and drama. It is often described as the final expression of the Baroque movement. The Rococo style began in France in the 1730s as a reaction against the more formal and geometric Louis XIV style. Pier Leone Ghezzi
Pier Leone Ghezzi (28 June 1674 – 6 March 1755) was an Italian Rococo painter and caricaturist active in Rome. Biography Ghezzi was born and died in Rome. He trained under his father, Giuseppe Ghezzi, who also trained Antonio Amorosi. His father was secretary of the Roman Accademia di San Luca, and Pier Leone joined the Academy in 1705. His essay painting, the ''Allegory of Gratitude'', was donated to the institution for his admission, as was customary. He painted for various churches such as the Cappuccini of Frascati and San Onofrio of Urbino. He was the godson of Carlo Maratta. Pier Leone is known for his frescoes in the Villa Falconieri of Frascati. As a painter, his style changes quite much through the years, sometimes under the influence of French portraiture. His pen and gouache caricatures are much freer in emotion than his state portraiture, and were much admired.
