134th Infantry Regiment (Airborne)
The 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 134th Infantry Regiment is an airborne infantry battalion in the Nebraska Army National Guard. By extension, it is a member of the United States Army National Guard, and as a currently federally-recognized unit, also a member of the National Guard of the United States. History The 2nd Battalion of the 134th Infantry Regiment was established by the Nebraska Army National Guard on 2 November 2019 as part of a restructuring that brought infantry back to its force structure for the first time in a generation. The battalion drew on personnel from the 195th Forward Support Company (Special Operations) (Airborne), formerly at Omaha, the 313th Medical Company at Lincoln, and Company E (Long Range Surveillance), 134th Infantry Regiment, which were all inactivated under the same reorganization. Airborne Forces
Airborne forces, airborne troops, or airborne infantry are ground combat units carried by aircraft and airdropped into battle zones, typically by parachute drop or air assault. Parachute-qualified infantry and support personnel serving in airborne units are also known as paratroopers. The main advantage of airborne forces is their ability to be deployed into combat zones without land passage, as long as the airspace is accessible. Formations of airborne forces are limited only by the number and size of their transport aircraft; a sizeable force can appear "out of the sky" behind enemy lines in merely hours if not minutes, an action known as ''vertical envelopment''. 700th Support Battalion (United States)
The 700th Brigade Support Battalion is headquartered in Norman, Oklahoma. It is a part of the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Oklahoma Army National Guard. The headquarters and headquarters company of the 700th BSB is the element of the 45th IBCT with the most campaign streamers, composed of smaller elements which saw action during World War I, predating the division, that would become the 700th BSB. The 151st Infantry Regiment is an infantry unit in the Indiana National Guard, part of the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Separate). History The 151st Infantry Regiment traces its roots to the Indiana Territory Indiana Rangers militia. It was in the 1811 Battle of Tippecanoe that it earned its motto "Wide Awake! Wide Awake!" In 1846, the 2d Regiment, Indiana Volunteers, Indiana Brigade was mustered into Federal Service for the Mexican–American War, and was again federalized in 1861 during the American Civil War. Seymour is a city in Jackson County, Indiana, United States. Its population was 21,569 at the 2020 census. The city is noted for its location at the intersection of two major north–south and east–west railroads, which cross each other in the downtown area. The north–south line (the Jeffersonville, Madison and Indianapolis Railroad) was built in the 1840s and connected Indianapolis to the Ohio River at Jeffersonville.
