12th Street Oakland City Center (BART Station)
12th Street/Oakland City Center station (signed as 12th Street/Oakland) is an underground Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station located under Broadway between 12th Street and 14th Street in Downtown Oakland, adjacent to the Oakland City Center. It is the second-busiest BART station in both Oakland and the East Bay (just after ), and the 6th busiest BART station overall, with a daily ridership of approximately in . The station has three underground levels, with tracks on the second and third levels. It is served by the , , and , as well as by AC Transit buses on the surface. Oakland City Center/12th Street station opened in 1972 as part of the first section of BART. In 1980–1986, the KE Track project added the third track to the station. East Bay Bus Rapid Transit
Tempo is a bus rapid transit (BRT) service in Oakland and San Leandro in California. It is operated by AC Transit as Line 1T. The route has dedicated lanes and center-boarding stations along much of the corridor, prepaid fares, signal preemption, and all-door boarding. Route The northern terminus of the line is at the Uptown Transit Center, located at the 19th Street/Oakland BART station. The lines continues down Broadway in mixed traffic, passing 12th Street/Oakland City Center BART station before the southbound and northbound routes split at 11th and 12th Streets, respectively. MacArthur Station (BART)
MacArthur station is a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) rapid transit station in the Temescal District of Oakland, California. It is the largest station in the BART system, being the only one with four platform tracks. Service through MacArthur is timed for cross-platform transfers between the southbound lines that pass through the station. Cross-platform Interchange
A cross-platform interchange is a type of interchange between different lines at a metro (or other railway) station. The term originates with the London Underground; such layouts exist in other networks but are not commonly so named. In the United States, it is often referred to as a cross-platform transfer. This configuration occurs at a station with island platforms, with a single platform in between the tracks allocated to two directions of travel, or two side platforms between the tracks, connected by level corridors. The benefit of this design is that passengers do not need to use stairs to another platform level for transfer. A cross-platform interchange arrangement may be costly to build due to the complexity of rail alignment, especially if the railway designers also arrange the track with flyovers (which is typically done to increase efficiency). Transbay Tube
The Transbay Tube is an underwater rail tunnel that carries Bay Area Rapid Transit's four transbay lines under San Francisco Bay between the cities of San Francisco and Oakland in California. The tube is long, and attaches to twin bored tunnels. The underground section of rail between the nearest stations (one of which is underground) totals in length. The tube has a maximum depth of below sea level. Built using the immersed tube technique, the Transbay tube was constructed on land in 57 sections, transported to the site, and then submerged and fastened to the bottom – primarily by packing its sides with sand and gravel. Opened in 1974, the tunnel was the final segment of the original BART system to open. All BART lines except the Berryessa-Richmond line operate through the Transbay Tube, making it one of the busiest sections of the system in terms of passenger and train traffic. The Berryessa/North San José–Richmond line (formerly the Richmond–Warm Springs/South Fremont and Richmond–Fremont line) is a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) line in the San Francisco Bay Area that runs from Berryessa/North San José station to Richmond station.
