Beauharnois (provincial Electoral District)
Beauharnois is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. The district notably include the city of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. It was created in 2001 from parts of Beauharnois-Huntingdon, Châteauguay and Salaberry-Soulanges. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged. An earlier version of the Beauharnois electoral district had been created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). Its last election was in 1985. It disappeared in the 1989 election and its successor electoral district was Beauharnois-Huntingdon. Pierre D'Auteuil
Pierre D'Auteuil (April 2, 1857 – December 11, 1933) was a Canadian lawyer, politician and judge. Born in Rivière-Ouelle, Canada East, D'Auteuil was educated at the Séminaire de Québec and at the Université Laval. He was called to the Bar of Quebec in 1881 and created a King's Counsel in 1906. A lawyer, he was mayor of Baie-Saint-Paul, Quebec from 1897 to 1901. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec for Charlevoix in 1897. A Conservative, he did not run in 1900. He was elected again in 1904 and 1908, and then again (in Charlevoix-Saguenay) in 1912, and 1916. He was defeated in 1919. Champlain (provincial Electoral District)
Champlain is a provincial electoral riding in the Mauricie region of Quebec, Canada, which elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the eastern portions of the city of Trois-Rivières as well as Saint-Tite, Saint-Maurice and Sainte-Thècle. Its boundaries have remained the same since the 1973 election. However, the boundaries changed for the 2018 election as it gained Hérouxville, Lac-aux-Sables, Notre-Dame-de-Montauban, Saint-Adelphe, Sainte-Thècle, Saint-Séverin and Saint-Tite from Laviolette. It is named after the founder of Quebec City in 1608, Samuel de Champlain. Pierre-Calixte Neault (December 26, 1860 – August 30, 1924) was a politician Quebec, Canada and a two-term Member of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec (MLA). Maurice Perrault
Maurice Perrault (12 June 1857 – 11 February 1909) was a Canadian architect, civil engineer, and politician. Born in Montreal, Canada East, the son of Henri-Maurice Perrault, a surveyor and architect, and Marie-Louise-Octavie Masson. Perrault studied at the Petit Séminaire de Montréal from 1867 to 1875. He studied surveying and architecture from 1875 to 1879. In 1880, he went to work in his father's company, which was called Perrault et Mesnard. Here, he was involved in the design of Sainte-Cécile in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield (1882–84); Sainte-Anne in Varennes (1883–87); Saint-Antoine in Longueuil (1884–87); and Saint-Charles in Lachenaie (1888–90). The firm reconstructed the facade and steeple of the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel. William Frederick Vilas (15 July 1853 – 15 August 1930) was a Canadian politician. Born in East Farnham, Canada East, Vilas was mayor of Cowansville, Quebec from 1911 to 1922. John Hall Kelly
John Hall Kelly (September 1, 1879 – March 10, 1941) was a Canadian lawyer, politician and diplomat. Born in Saint-Godefroy, Gaspé Peninsula, Quebec, Kelly was educated at the Collège de Lévis, the University of St. Joseph's College, and at the Université Laval. He was called to the Bar of Quebec in 1903. He was created a King's Counsel in 1914. He practiced law in New Carlisle, Quebec specializing in corporate law. He was the president of the New Richmond Mining Co., North American Mining Co., Gaspé Mines, Cascapédia Mines and Paspébiac Mines. In 1905 he was the founder and president of the Bonaventure and Gaspé Telephone Company. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Bonaventure in 1904.
