The Prefetti di Vico were an Italian noble family, of German origin, who established themselves in Rome from the 10th century. They obtained the title of ''praefect urbis'' (prefect of the city) by the Holy Roman Emperor. Vico Equense is a coastal town and ''comune'' in the Metropolitan City of Naples, in southern Italy. Geography Vico Equense is part of the greater Bay of Naples metropolitan area and is a tourist destination. Located on a tuff cliff, it is relatively close to the ferry to the island of Capri, the volcano Vesuvius, the Monte Faito and the ancient town of Pompeii. A ''frazione'' (plural: ) is a type of subdivision of a ''comune'' (municipality) in Italy, often a small village or hamlet outside the main town. Most ''frazioni'' were created during the Fascist era (1922–1943) as a way to consolidate territorial subdivisions in the country. In the autonomous region of the Aosta Valley, a ''frazione'' is officially called an ''hameau'' in French. Lake Vico
Lake Vico ( it, Lago di Vico) is a caldera lake in the northern Lazio region, central Italy. It is one of the highest major Italian lakes, with an altitude of 510 m. Administratively, it is part of the municipalities of Caprarola and Ronciglione. The lake is surrounded by the Cimini Hills, in particular by the Fogliano (965 m) and Venere (851 m) mountains. It is part of the Lake Vico Natural Reserve. According to legend, the lake was created by Hercules, who defied the local inhabitants by wielding his club. When he did this, a stream sprang up and formed the lake. Lake Vico occupies the central caldera of Vico Volcano. A volcanic cone was built up in a series of eruptions that occurred 305,000 to 258,000 years ago. Vico, Corse-du-Sud
Vico (; co, Vicu) is a commune in the Corse-du-Sud department of France on the island of Corsica. The Sagone river flows through the commune from east to west, entering the sea in the village of Sagone. Sagone used to be the seat of a diocese, but by 1751 the town of Sagone was in ruins and uninhabited due to raids by Barbary pirates. The bishop lived inland in Vico, then a small town of some 800 inhabitants, under the civil government of Genoa. Christopher Paul Neil (born February 6, 1975), also known as Mr. Swirl, Swirl Face, or Vico (nicknamed after the Interpol operation concerning him), is a Canadian convicted child molester.
