''Le Banquet'' is a Canadian drama film from Quebec, directed by Sébastien Rose and released in 2008. The film's original working title was ''Comme une flamme''. Set at an unnamed university in Montreal amidst the backdrop of a student strike over rising tuition fees, the film centres on Bertrand ( Alexis Martin), an idealistic young professor who battles the university administration after it refuses to expel a problem student (Benoît McGinnis) who is being disruptive in Bertrand's class. Michel Côté (actor)
Michel Côté (born June 25, 1950) is a Canadian actor. He is best known for his performances in the films ''Cruising Bar'', '' Life After Love (La vie après l'amour)'' and ''C.R.A.Z.Y.'', the theatrical show ''Broue'' and the television series ''Omertà''. Career Côté taught introductory acting and improvisation at the Option Theatre in Ste. Therese until 1977. He subsequently cofounded a small theatre, Vogagements. In 1979 Côté began performing in the play ''Broue'' at the theatre; the play was intended to have a one-month run, but ended up being staged in many cities across Canada, and Cote continued to perform in all of the more than 2,000 presentations as late as 2008. Côté played the lead role in the film ''Cruising Bar'', and was nominated for a Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in 1990. Natar Ungalaaq (born 1959) is a Canadian Inuit actor, filmmaker and sculptor whose work is in many major collections of Inuit art. Before playing the lead roles in '' Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner'' (2001) and '' The Necessities of Life (Ce qu'il faut pour vivre)'' (2008), Ungalaaq played major roles in other Canadian and American films, including '' Kabloonak'' (1995), ''Glory & Honor'' (1998) and ''Frostfire'' (1994). Benoît Pilon
Benoît Pilon (born July 27, 1962) is a francophone Canadian director and screenwriter particularly noted for his innovative films and documentaries on the human condition. He is also the co-founder of ''"Les Films de l'autre" productions'', which produces, promotes and helps the development of independent films throughout North America. Career Benoît Pilon earned a B.A. in film studies at Concordia University. Robert Morin (born May 20, 1949) is a Canadian film director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. In 2009, he received Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts. Biography Robert Morin is known for his very personal, dark, and pessimistic "interior views" of family, crime, law enforcement, and human suffering. He studied Literature and Communications and in 1971 began to work as a cameraman, joining ORTQ in Rimouski, where he directed films and videos. In 1977, with a group of friends and colleagues, Morin founded La Coopérative de Production Vidéo de Montréal, where he continues to produce his own work.
