110th Aviation Brigade (United States)
The 110th Aviation Brigade is an aviation brigade of the United States Army conducting all flight training under the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence at Fort Rucker, Alabama. It consists of a Headquarters, an academics section, a night vision device section, four subordinate battalions, and an Army Reserve Augmentation Brigade Headquarters: * 1st Battalion, 11th Aviation Regiment * 1st Battalion, 14th Aviation Regiment, Hanchey Army Heliport (AH-64D/E) * 1st Battalion, 212th Aviation Regiment, Lowe Army Heliport and Shell Army Heliport (UH-60A/L/M & OH-58C) * 1st Battalion, 223rd Aviation Regiment, Cairns Army Airfield and Knox Army Heliport (CH-47D/F & Mi-17) History The 10th Aviation Group was activated on 30 June 1965 and evolved from the 10th Air Transport Brigade (Test). Army Superior Unit Award
The Superior Unit Award is a decoration of the United States Army which is awarded in peacetime to any unit of the Army which displays outstanding meritorious performance of a difficult and challenging mission carried out under extraordinary circumstances. The Army Superior Unit Award (ASUA) was created in 1985. The award is composed of a green and red ribbon, enclosed within a gold frame. Background As part of the Army Cohesion and Stability Study (ARCOST) of 1980, a proposal to adopt the Army Superior Unit Award was forwarded to Major Army Commands (MACOMs) for comment on 18 March 1981. This recommendation was based on the fact that present Army unit awards were for combat service only. While all MACOM and most of the Army Staff supported the proposal, the leadership elected not to approve the new award.
