110 Medium Regiment (India)
110 Medium Regiment is part of the Regiment of Artillery (India), Regiment of Artillery of the Indian Army. Formation and history The regiment was raised at Allahabad on 1 January 1981 with 130 mm guns. The first commanding officer was Lieutenant Colonel (later Colonel) APS Grewal. The regiment was initially attached to an infantry division in Central India, following which it has served as part of an infantry division, an independent artillery brigade, an armoured division and a mountain division. The regiment has also taken part in counter-insurgency duties at different locations. Commendation Cards (Indian Army)
The Commendation Cards of the Indian Army are awarded by the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) or General Officer Commanding-in Chiefs (GOC-in-C) of the Indian Army for acts of gallantry, distinguished service, or devotion to duty. Criteria The criteria for the award are as per ''Army Order 54/77''– Types of Badges There are two types of Commendation Badges – *(a) COAS Commendation Badges, which is awarded by the Chief of the Army Staff. *(b) Army Commendation, which can be awarded by officers of Commander-in-Chief Grade. This includes the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, General officer commanding-in-chiefs of the six operational commands and the Army Training Command. Sena Medal
The Sena Medal is awarded to members of the Indian army, of all ranks, "for such individual acts of exceptional devotion to duty or courage as have special significance for the Army." Awards may be made posthumously and a bar is authorized for subsequent awards of the Sena Medal. It can be awarded for gallantry or it can also be for distinguished service carried out by any soldier, not in the face of the enemy. Therefore, the Sena Medal also serves as a sort of general commendation medal for the Indian Army. From 1 February 1999, the central government set a monthly stipend of Rs. 250 for recipients of the award when it is awarded for bravery. It has since been revised to Rs. 2000. The 2001–2002 India–Pakistan standoff was a military standoff between India and Pakistan that resulted in the massing of troops on both sides of the border and along the Line of Control (LoC) in the region of Kashmir. 130 Mm Towed Field Gun M1954 (M-46)
The 130 mm towed field gun M-46 (russian: 130-мм пушка M-46) is a manually loaded, towed 130 mm artillery piece, manufactured in the Soviet Union in the 1950s. It was first observed by the west in 1954. For many years, the M-46 was one of the longest range artillery pieces around, with a range of more than (unassisted) and (assisted). Design history The order was given in April 1946 to design a "duplex" artillery pice to replace the obsolete 122 mm gun M1931/37 (A-19), 152 mm howitzer-gun M1937 (ML-20) and other World War II era field guns, such as 122 mm Model 1931, 152 mm Model 1910/30, 152 mm Model 1935 (BR-2). The Regiment of Artillery is a combat/fighting arm of the Indian Army, which provides massive firepower during all ground operations of the Indian Army. It is a successor to the Royal Indian Artillery (RIA) of British Indian Army, which itself traces its origins to the formation of Bombay Artillery in 1827. Today, it is the second-largest arm of the Indian Army, and with its guns, mortars, rocket launchers, unmanned aerial vehicles, surveillance systems, missiles and artillery firepower.
