107 Avenue is a major arterial road in west-central Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It serves Edmonton's west side industrial district, neighbourhoods of the former Town of Jasper Place ( amalgamated with Edmonton in 1964), the multicultural area north of Downtown Edmonton, Commonwealth Stadium, and adjacent park & ride transit centre. The portion between 95 and 116 Streets has been dubbed "Avenue of Nations", as immigrants from around the world live in this area, including African Nations, Arabic Nations, Cambodia, China, First Nations, Italy, Japan, Latin American, Poland, Ukraine, and Vietnam. Commonwealth Stadium (Edmonton)
Commonwealth Stadium is an open-air, multipurpose stadium located in the McCauley neighbourhood of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It has a seating capacity of 56,302, making it the largest open-air stadium in Canada. Primarily used for Canadian football, it also hosts athletics, soccer, rugby union and concerts. David George McQueen, who served 43 years as minister at Edmonton's First Presbyterian Church (Edmonton), First Presbyterian Church from 1887 to 1930. Canora is a residential neighbourhood in west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Canora's name comes from the first two letters of the words "Canadian Northern Railway", the winning entry in a 1948 contest to name a new school being built near an abandoned right of way of the former Canadian Northern Railway. (The village of Canora, Saskatchewan, was named in the same way in 1905, when the railway company still existed.) The school building was originally in the hamlet of West Jasper Place, though the rapidly growing hamlet became a village, then changed its name to Jasper Place, then became a town all within 14 months of the school's September 1949 opening.
