Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. CFIN-FM is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Lac-Etchemin, Quebec. It broadcasts on 100.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 9,600 watts ( class B) using an omnidirectional antenna. The station has a variety format and operates under a community radio licence. CFIN-FM received approval in 1991 and went on the air in 1992. One of their most famous shows was the weekly "Son Noir des Nuits Blanches", mainly a classic-rock show broadcast on Saturday nights from midnight to 2 A.M. from 1993 to 1998. CFIN-FM operates four rebroadcasters. The most powerful one, CFIN-FM-1, is located in Armagh, and broadcasts on 103.9 MHz with an effective radiated power of 1,390 watts ( class A) using an omnidirectional antenna. CFBK-FM is a Canadian radio station that airs at 105.5 FM in Huntsville, Ontario with an adult hits format branded as 105.5 Moose FM. CFBK began broadcasting in 1958 as CKAR on the AM band at 590 kHz with a repeater in Parry Sound known as CKAR-1. In 1961, CKAR moved to 630 kHz and in 1977 became CFBK. In September 1987, the station converted to the FM band at 105.5 MHz and the old AM 630 frequency left the air for good on December 31 the same year. CBK is a Canadian public radio station, licensed to Watrous, Saskatchewan. It broadcasts the CBC Radio One network on an assigned frequency of 540 kHz to most of southern and central Saskatchewan. CBEF (1550 AM) is a non-commercial radio station in Windsor, Ontario. It airs the programming of Radio-Canada's Première network. CBEF is a Class A station broadcasting on the clear-channel frequency of 1550 AM, and is the only full power station on this frequency in Canada. Most clear channel stations broadcast at 50,000 watts, the maximum permitted for Canadian AM stations, but CBEF is powered at 10,000 watts.
