Radio Broadcasting
Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. To receive the content the listener must have a broadcast radio receiver (''radio''). CBR-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting on 102.1 FM in Calgary, Alberta. It broadcasts the programming of the CBC Music network. CBR-FM's studios are located on Westmount Boulevard Northwest just west of downtown Calgary, while its transmitter is located at 85th Street Southwest and Old Banff Coach Road in western Calgary. CBR-FM was launched on September 29, 1975. The jazz program '' Tonic'', hosted by Tim Tamashiro, originated from CBR-FM. It previously hosted only the weekend version until the retirement of Montreal-based weekday host Katie Malloch in 2012. CJRW-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 102.1 FM in Summerside, Prince Edward Island owned & operated by the Maritime Broadcasting System. The station plays an adult contemporary format branded on-air as ''102 Spud FM''. CJRW is the only radio station in Prince Edward Island that is not being licensed to Charlottetown. History The station was launched in 1927 as CHGS originally broadcasting at 1120 on the AM dial. In 1934, the station moved to 1450, then to 1480 in 1941, and then to its final AM frequency at 1240 in 1948. The station also adopted its current call letters at the time. CJGO-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts at 102.1 FM radio, FM in La Sarre, Quebec. Owned and operated by Arsenal Media, the station airs an active rock format branded as Capitale Rock. CJGO also has a rebroadcaster in Rouyn-Noranda, CHGO-FM-1, 95.7 FM; the repeater originally rebroadcast sister station CHGO-FM in Val-d'Or until August 2010, when it switched to CJGO. CJDJ-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 102.1 FM in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The station, owned by Rawlco Communications, broadcasts an active rock format as ''Rock 102''. It shares studio space with sister stations CFMC and CKOM at 715 Saskatchewan Crescent West, also the home of Rawlco Radio's Corporate Offices. History The station received approval by the CRTC in 1989 and originally launched in 1990 as CHSN-FM, an adult contemporary station branded as ''Sun 102'' and owned by Highline Broadcasting. History The station was licensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission in 2007, and officially launched on May 23, 2008. The CJCY callsign was once used by another radio station in Medicine Hat, now called CFMY, from 1982 to 1998. That station has no ownership association with the current CJCY. CFSI-FM was a Canadian radio station began broadcasting on September 14, 2009. Broadcasting on 107.9 FM, it is the first radio station licensed to Salt Spring Island in British Columbia.
