"100" is the twelfth episode of the Glee (season 5), fifth season of the American musical television series ''Glee (TV series), Glee'', and the special 100 episodes, one-hundredth episode of the show. Written by series co-creators Ryan Murphy (writer), Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan (writer), Ian Brennan, and directed by Paris Barclay, it aired on Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox in the United States on March 18, 2014. This is a two-part episode, with the second part airing on March 25, 2014, and features the apparent end of New Directions after the club is shut down by principal Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch). The fifth season of the Fox musical comedy-drama television series ''Glee'' was commissioned on April 19, 2013, along with a sixth season. It premiered on September 26, 2013, as part of the 2013 fall season. After a winter break, it returned on February 25, 2014, moving to Tuesday nights to finish its season. Mark Wayne Salling (; August 17, 1982 – January 30, 2018) was an American actor and musician known for his role as Noah "Puck" Puckerman on the television series ''Glee''. Salling studied at the Los Angeles College of Music before working as a guitar teacher. He also worked as an occasional actor, appearing in '' Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering'' (1996) and '' The Graveyard'' (2006) before gaining a recurring role in ''Glee'' in 2009. Initially a regular character, from the fifth season he was reduced to a recurring guest star role. On the show, he soloed and dueted on cover versions of various songs.
