Menston
Menston is a village and civil parish in the City of Bradford in the county of West Yorkshire, England. Along with Burley in Wharfedale, most of Menston is within Wharfedale Ward in the metropolitan borough of Bradford. The remainder of Menston is in the Leeds City Council area. At the 2011 census it has a population of 4,498 (down from 4,660 in 2001). Landmarks Menston's Anglican parish church is dedicated to St John the Divine, and is part of the Diocese of Leeds. Other notable buildings include the former High Royds Hospital and St. Mary's Menston Catholic Academy, both of which are in the Leeds part of Menston. The site of High Royds Hospital, originally the West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum, which is just inside the City of Leeds metropolitan borough, has been converted to housing called "Highroyds Village". ''Brighton Rock'' is a 2010 British crime film written and directed by Rowan Joffé and loosely based on Graham Greene's 1938 in literature, 1938 Brighton Rock (novel), novel of the same name. The film stars Sam Riley, Andrea Riseborough, Andy Serkis, John Hurt, Sean Harris and Helen Mirren. The novel had previously been made into a Brighton Rock (1948 film), film under the same title by the Boulting brothers that premiered in 1948. Although the novel and original film are both set in the 1930s, the 21st century adaptation is set during the Mods and Rockers era of the 1960s. '' Brighton Rock'' is a novel by Graham Greene, published in 1938 and later adapted for film and theatre. The novel is a murder thriller set in 1930s Brighton. The first of Greene's works to explore Catholic themes and moral issues, its treatment of class privilege and the problem of evil is paradoxical and ambivalent. Gerald McMorrow (born 1970) is an English writer and filmmaker. Career McMorrow studied cinema in New York and began his career directing music videos for artists like Tom Jones and Catatonia. He later worked with advertising, directing television advertisement for agencies like Saatchi & Saatchi and winning one Creative Circle and British Television Advertising Award. Factory Records was a Manchester-based British independent record label founded in 1978 by Tony Wilson and Alan Erasmus. The label featured several important acts on its roster, including Joy Division, New Order, A Certain Ratio, the Durutti Column, Happy Mondays, Northside, and (briefly) Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and James. Factory also ran The Haçienda nightclub, in partnership with New Order.
