1999–2000 Southeast Missouri State Redhawks Men's Basketball Team
The 1999–2000 Southeast Missouri State Redhawks men's basketball team represented Southeast Missouri State University in the 1999–2000 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Redhawks, led by fifth-year head coach Gary Garner, played their home games at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri as members of the Ohio Valley Conference. They finished the season 24–7, 14–4 in OVC play to finish in second place. They won the OVC tournament to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Southeast Missouri State was the No. 13 seed in the West region and they lost to LSU in the opening round. This was the only time the Redhawks had participated in the Men’s Division I NCAA Tournament until the 2022–23 season. Gary Garner
Gary Garner (born September 12, 1943) is an American former college basketball coach. He led several programs, including Drake and Southeast Missouri State at the NCAA Division I level. Garner also coached at Fort Hays State and Dakota State, winning a Division II national championship with Fort Hays in 1996. Raised in West Plains, Missouri, Garner played college basketball for the Missouri Tigers from 1962 to 1965. Following his playing career, he turned to coaching, leading junior college programs at Kemper Military Academy, Trenton Junior College and Joplin Junior College (now Missouri Southern State University) before accepting an assistant coach role at his alma mater under coach Norm Stewart. He spent four seasons on the Tiger staff, helping to build some of the program's best teams, before landing the head coaching position at Drake. SIU Arena
Banterra Center (formerly SIU Arena) is an 8,284-seat multi-purpose arena, on the campus of Southern Illinois University, in Carbondale, Illinois, United States. Construction on the arena began in the spring of 1962 and took nearly two years to complete. It was completed in 1964 and is the home of the SIU Salukis basketball team. McBrayer Arena
Alumni Coliseum is a multi-use sports arena located on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. History Built in 1963, the Paul S. McBrayer Arena located inside Alumni Coliseum, is capable of seating around 6,500 people in both chairback seats and on wooden benches (8,000 for concerts) arranged in a horseshoe shape, facing a wall at the right side of the arena where staging is usually set up for events. The arena's ceiling is made completely of wooden beams and is believed to be the largest of its kind in existence. It was named for the former EKU Men's Basketball Coach Paul McBrayer who compiled a record of 219-144. The CFSB Center is an 8,600-seat arena located in Murray, Kentucky near the intersection of Ky. 121 and U.S. 641. The arena is the home of the Murray State Racers Basketball teams. The Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is a multi-purpose sports and recreation facility on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM) named in honor of University of Tennessee Trustee Col.
