1999–2000 Atlanta Thrashers Season
The 1999–2000 Atlanta Thrashers season was the inaugural campaign for the franchise that would play in Atlanta for 11 season (sports), seasons. The Thrashers finished their inaugural season with an NHL-worst record of 14–57–7–4 for 39 points. To date, it is the worst season in the history of the Atlanta Thrashers/Winnipeg Jets franchise. In addition, it represents the lowest full-season point total since the beginning of the NHL's "three-point" standings system in 1999–2000, as well as the lowest point total for any team playing an 82-game season. The rebuilding Detroit Red Wings tied the mark 2019–20 Detroit Red Wings season, 19 seasons later. But, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Red Wings played 71 games, 11 less than the Thrashers. The Eastern Conference () is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Western Conference (NHL), Western Conference. History Originally named the Prince of Wales Conference (or Wales Conference for short), it was created in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. 1999–2000 New Jersey Devils Season
The 1999–2000 New Jersey Devils season was the 26th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 11, 1974, and 18th season since the franchise relocated from Colorado prior to the 1982–83 NHL season. After firing head coach Robbie Ftorek on March 23, the team won their second Stanley Cup championship on June 10, 2000, in a double-overtime victory in Game 6 of the 2000 Stanley Cup Finals against the Dallas Stars. To date, this was the last team to eliminate the Toronto Maple Leafs and then go on to win the Stanley Cup that season. The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey. The Stanley Cup () is the championship trophy awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) playoff champion. It is the oldest existing trophy to be awarded to a professional sports franchise in North America, and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) considers it to be one of the "most important championships available to the sport". Éric Christian Bertrand (born April 16, 1975) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is currently playing for Saint-Georges Cool FM 103.5 in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey. Sergei Iosifovich Vyshedkevich (born January 3, 1975) is a Russian former professional ice hockey defenseman who last played for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the Kontinental Hockey League. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the third round, 70th overall, of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Career After playing two seasons with Dynamo Moscow, Vyshedkevich came to North America to play with the Devils' AHL affiliate, the Albany River Rats, in the 1996–97 season. Vyshedkevich played three full seasons with the River Rats before the Devils traded him to the expansion Atlanta Thrashers as part of a deal during the 1999 NHL Expansion Draft. Per Eric Svartvadet (born 17 May 1975) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey player. Svartvadet was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft in the 6th round, as the 139th pick overall. In the summer of 1999 he was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers. He made his debut for the Thrashers in the 1999–2000 season, and also spent time with the Orlando Solar Bears that season.
