Yvon Dumont
W. Yvon Dumont, (born January 21, 1951) is a Manitoba politician and office-holder. In 1993, he became the first member of Manitoba's Métis community to be appointed as the province's 21st Lieutenant Governor. He was born in St. Laurent, Manitoba. He became involved in the Manitoba Metis Federation in 1967, and became its Director for the Interlake region in 1972. He was chosen Executive Vice-President of the Federation in 1973, and served as its President from 1984 to 1993. Dumont was also a founding member of the Native Council of Canada in 1972, and served as President of the Métis National Council from 1988 to 1993. He has participated as a representative of the MMF at Canadian First Ministers' conference, and has been actively involved in constitutional debates concerning First Nations and Métis peoples. Lise Thibault DStJ (; born 2 April 1939) is a Canadian politician who served as the List of lieutenant governors of Quebec#Lieutenant Governors of Quebec, 1867–present, 27th Lieutenant Governor of Quebec from 1997 to 2007. She later spent six months in jail for misuse of public funds, which she was ordered to repay the government. As of she is the only Canadian vice-regal representative to have been incarcerated. Early life Born in Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan, Quebec, Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan, Quebec, she was the eldest daughter of Paul Trudel and Laurenza Wolfe. She was educated at the Académie Marie-Anne de Montréal, and then went on to teachers' college at Cégep de Saint-Jérôme. She married René Thibault in 1959. Thibault was permanently disabled in a tobogganing accident as a teenager, and uses a wheelchair. Gilbert Ralph Clements, (11 September 1928 – 27 November 2012) was a Canadian politician and the 25th Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island from 1995 to 2001. Born in Victoria Cross, Prince Edward Island, he was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island in 1970 representing 4th Kings. He was re-elected in 1974, 1979, 1982, 1986, 1989, and 1993. He held the following positions: Minister Municipal Affairs, Environment & Tourism, Parks & Conservation (1974–1978), Opposition Critic for Finance and Energy (1979–1986), Minister of Finance & Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs (1986–1989), and Minister of Finance & Minister of the Environment (1989–1993). John James Kinley (23 September 1925 – 1 May 2012) was a Canadian engineer, industrialist and the 29th Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia since confederation. Early life Kinley was born in Lunenburg, the son of politician John James Kinley and Lila Evelyn Kinley (Young). Career Kinley was an engineering graduate of Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia Technical College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Arthur Maxwell House
Arthur Maxwell House, (August 10, 1926 – October 17, 2013) was a Canadian neurologist and the tenth lieutenant governor of Newfoundland and Labrador. Born in Glovertown, Newfoundland, he graduated from medical school at Dalhousie University in 1952. He then specialized in neurology, at the Montreal Neurological Institute, becoming the only neurologist, in 1959, in the province until 1966. In the 1970s, House became pioneer of telehealth by offering telephone consultations with patients in remote areas of the province. He had helped to establish the medical school at Memorial University of Newfoundland and worked for thirty years there as a professor of neurology.
