The Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre (SOPAC) , formerly Sydney International Aquatic Centre (SIAC), is a swimming pool, swimming venue located in the Sydney Olympic Park in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Jenny Thompson
Jennifer Beth Thompson (born February 26, 1973) is an American former competition swimmer and anesthesiologist. She is one of the most decorated Olympians in history: twelve medals, including eight gold medals, in the 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004 Summer Olympics. Thompson, a Massachusetts native who calls Dover, New Hampshire her hometown, began swimming at age 7 at a summer country club called Cedardale in Groveland, Massachusetts. Laura Nicholls (born September 25, 1978) is a Canadian former competition swimmer who won ten international medals in freestyle events, including the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, Commonwealth Games and Pan American Games. Emma Clare Johnson (born 24 February 1980) is an Australian freestyle and medley swimmer of the 1990s, who won a bronze medal in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of just 16 (whilst attending the Presbyterian Ladies' College, Sydney as a boarder). She combined with Susie O'Neill, Julia Greville and Nicole Stevenson to register a bronze medal in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay, trailing the American and German teams home. She finished fifth in the 400-metre individual medley, and 9th and 10th respectively in the 200-metre individual medley and 400-metre freestyle in individual events at the same Olympics. Giaan Leigh Rooney, OAM (born 15 November 1982) is an Australian former competitive swimmer and television personality. As a member of the Australian team in women's 4×100-metre medley relay, she won an Olympic gold medal and broke a world record at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
