1999 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1999 NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament was the 43rd annual single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division II college basketball in the United States. Officially culminating the 1998–99 NCAA Division II men's basketball season, the tournament featured forty-eight teams from around the country. The Elite Eight, national semifinals, and championship were again played at the Commonwealth Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Kentucky Wesleyan (35–2) defeated Metro State in the final, 75–60, to win their record seventh Division II national championship. This title came one year after the Panthers' loss to UC Davis in the 1998 championship. Kentucky Wesleyan was coached by Ray Harper. Commonwealth Convention Center
The Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC), formerly called the Commonwealth Convention Center, is a large multi-use facility in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. The KICC, along with the Kentucky Exposition Center, hosts conventions for the Louisville area. It was built on the site of the Tyler Block and opened in 1977. The facility underwent a major renovation from 2016 to 2018, seeking more space and a more inviting presence. While the convention center does not have a permanent arena, it has hosted various sporting events, including the 2002 Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball tournament and the NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament from 1995 to 2000. It also hosted select University of Louisville women's basketball games from the 1989–90 season through 1992–93, and again in the 1994–95, 2000–01, and 2008–09 seasons. The College of Saint Rose is a private Roman Catholic college in Albany, New York. It was founded in 1920 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet as a women's college. It became fully co-educational in 1969; the following year, the college added laypersons to its board and became an independent college sponsored by the sisters. Abilene Christian Wildcats (variously ACU or ACU Wildcats) refers to the sports teams of Abilene Christian University located in Abilene, Texas. The Missouri Western Griffons are the sports teams of Missouri Western State University located in St. Joseph, Missouri. The Adelphi Panthers are the athletic teams that represent Adelphi University, located in Garden City, Long Island, New York, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports.
