1998 Korean Basketball League Draft
The 1998 Korean Basketball League rookie draft (Korean: 1998 KBL 국내신인선수 드래프트) was held on March 9, 1998, at Hilton Hotel's convention center in Seoul, South Korea. It was the first ever rookie draft since domestic basketball transitioned into the professional era and the Korean Basketball League was established in 1997. Players For a league known for producing top-notch guards, the first four overall picks were forwards, with Shin Ki-sung before the highest-ranked guard at 7th. Shin, now a SPOTV commentator, would go on to forge a successful career spanning fourteen years. Hyun Joo-yup
Hyun Joo-yup (alternate spellings: Hyeon, Joo-yeop, Joo-yeob, Ju-yeop, Ju-yeob; ; born 27 July 1975) is a South Korean former professional basketball player and head coach. He is regarded as one of the greatest power forwards of all time in the Korean Basketball League (KBL). Hyun was given the moniker "Magic Hippo", "The Lord of the Military", "Point Forward" and "Korean Charles Barkley" for his size, versatility, and dominance. He is known for being the only player who broke the backboard in Korean basketball history. Hyun's career coincided with the founding of the professional league, having been drafted at the first ever KBL draft. Changwon LG Sakers
Changwon LG Sakers are a basketball team located in the city of Changwon in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. They play in the Korean Basketball League, and their home arena is Changwon Gymnasium which has a capacity for approximately 6,000 people. The team's main sponsor is LG Electronics which has its offices in Changwon. The professional team was established in 1997 and was named Gyeongnam LG Sakers. The name was changed to the Changwon LG Sakers after the first season. LG Sakers has yet to win a KBL championship. Shin Ki-sung
Shin Ki-sung (born April 30, 1975) is a South Korean retired professional basketball player and former coach. He played for three different teams in the Korean Basketball League and the South Korean national team. Known for his speed and shooting accuracy, he was nicknamed "Bullet Man" (총알탄 사나이).
