Norick Abe
, or was a Japanese professional motorcycle road racer who was previously a 500 cc/MotoGP rider. He died in a road traffic crash in October 2007. Career Abe was born to , a paved flat track rider, in Tokyo. When he was eleven, Abe began racing minibikes and spent his earlier career competing in motocross. He turned to road racing when he was fifteen and also competed in the United States. In 1992, Abe was the runner up in the 250 cc category for the domestic National A championship. The following year at the All Japan Road Race Championship, Abe won the 500 cc title in the category's final year and became the youngest title winner. In 1994, while racing in his home championship, Abe had a chance to race at the 1994 Japanese Grand Prix as a " wild card". Scott Smart
Scott Paul Smart (born 29 May 1975) is a British motorcycle racer and an occasional TV commentator for Channel 4. He is the son of Paul Smart, and the nephew of Barry Sheene. Racing career Scott won the Superteen series in 1994, and he was 1997 250cc British Champion, having previously finished as series runner-up, before making a move up to the 500cc World Championship the next year. He was not successful here, and after some 250cc races a year later he spent several years in British Supersport, finishing as runner-up in 2002. Mark Willis (born 3 May 1976 in Narrabri, NSW, Australia) is an Australian Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. Career In 1991 Willis won the NSW championship in Australia. He later became the Australian Long Track Champion in 1993 and 'Australian Rider of the Year' in 1996. He participated in the Australian Superbike Championship in 1997 with the Factory Suzuki Superbike team, Troy Bayliss was his teammate. Willis took his first race win in the wet at Eastern Creek and finished 4th in the championship. In 1998 Willis was a wildcard ride in the Superbike World Championship at Phillip Island saw Willis finish 6th in Race 1 and 9th in Race 2. Jurgen van den Goorbergh (born 29 December 1969) is a Dutch former professional motorcycle road racer also known as ''The Flying Dutchman''. His son, Zonta van den Goorbergh, is also a motorcycle racer and currently competes in Moto2. Kenneth Leroy Roberts (born December 31, 1951, in Modesto, California) is an American former professional motorcycle racer and racing team owner. In 1978, he became the first American to win a Grand Prix motorcycle racing world championship. He was also a two-time winner of the A.M.A. Grand National Championship. Roberts is one of only four riders in American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) racing history to win the AMA Grand Slam, representing Grand National wins at a mile, half-mile, short-track, TT Steeplechase and road race events. Tadayuki 'Taddy' Okada (born February 13, 1967) is a Japanese former professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He was runner-up in the 1994 250cc and in the 1997 500cc World Championship. Early career Okada won the 250cc All Japan Road Race Championship in three successive years from 1989 to 1991 for Honda. Honda then entered him into the 250cc World Championship in 1993.
