1997–98 Tetley's Bitter Cup
The 1997–98 Tetley's Bitter Cup was the 27th edition of England's top rugby union club competition. Saracens won the competition, for the first time by defeating Wasps, who lost in the final for the third time. The first two rounds were unsponsored and by the third round Tetley's Brewery took over the sponsorship; the previous nine years had been sponsored by Pilkington. Anglo-Welsh Cup
The Anglo-Welsh Cup (), was a cross-border rugby union knock-out cup competition that featured the 12 Premiership Rugby clubs and the four Welsh regions. It was a created as a replacement for the RFU Knockout Cup, which featured only English clubs. The competition was replaced by the Premiership Rugby Cup, involving only the 12 English Premiership clubs, beginning with the 2018–19 season. Gareth Rees (rugby Union)
Gareth Lloyd Rees (born 30 June 1967) is a Canadian former international rugby union footballer who played at fly-half and full back positions. Rees played for several British club sides, including Wasps and Harlequins. He won 55 caps for Canada, captaining them on 23 occasions and scoring 487 test points. In October 2011, Rees received arguably his greatest honour with induction to the IRB Hall of Fame. He and fellow 2011 inductee Brian Lima of Samoa are the first members of the IRB Hall from nations outside of the traditional top tier of the sport. Mark Denney
Mark Denney (born 25 January 1975) is a former rugby union footballer who played at centre for Bedford, Bristol, Castres, Wasps and Cambridge University. Whilst at Wasps he helped them win the Tetley Bitter Cup Final in 1999 and 2000; scoring a try in the latter final. He was a member of the Wasps team that won the 2002–03 Premiership Final, the 2003–04 Premiership Final and the 2004 Heineken Cup Final. He was educated at Bedford Modern School, Bristol University and Cambridge University. In 2015 (Aged 40) he spent a season, with his mates, playing for the all conquering Olney Vets RFC in the inaugural East Midlands Vets League Final. George Chuter
George Scala Chuter (born 9 July 1976) is an English rugby union ex player who played at Hooker for Leicester Tigers. Biography Chuter was born in Greenwich. He first started playing as a 12-year-old, when he went to Trinity School of John Whitgift in the London Borough of Croydon. He quickly established himself at hooker. He went on to play his club rugby for Old Mid-Whitgiftians and gained representative honours for the London Division U18 side. Club career Chuter was invited to trial for Saracens F.C. at the age of 19, where he played for five years. Chuter took a year off and decided to travel in the U.S. and Australia; he was in Sydney for the 2000 Olympic Games. On returning he signed for Leicester Tigers in December 2000. Paul Stephen Wallace (born 30 December 1971) is a former Irish rugby union player who played tight head prop for Ireland and the British & Irish Lions. Wallace was once regarded as the world's best tight-head prop, and was known as a very effective scrummager, and a player with good ball skills. Patrick Stephen Johns, known as Paddy Johns (born 19 February 1968, in Portadown) was an Irish rugby union player from 1990 to 2000. He played mainly as a lock and occasionally in the back-row. Francois Pienaar
Jacobus Francois Pienaar (born 2 January 1967) is a retired South African rugby union player. He played flanker for South Africa (the Springboks) from 1993 until 1996, winning 29 international caps, all of them as captain. He is best known for leading South Africa to victory in the 1995 Rugby World Cup. After being dropped from the Springbok team in 1996, Pienaar went on to a career with English club Saracens. Tony Diprose (born 22 September 1972, in Orsett) is a former English rugby union footballer. He played at number 8. Diprose attended The Campion School, Hornchurch. Club career Diprose signed for Harlequins from Saracens in April 2001 and made his début in the pre-season friendly against Bedford at Goldington Road four months later (18 August 2001). Diprose scored his first try for Quins in the Heineken Cup match away to Munster (5 January 2002) and for his efforts over the 2002/03 campaign, he was named 'Supporters Player of the Season.' Ryan Constable
Ryan Constable (born 20 October 1971) is a South African-born Australian former professional rugby union player. Constable, born in Durban, left South Africa aged 11 and attended Coolum High School on the Sunshine Coast. A speedy three-quarter, Constable was part of the 1993 Wallabies tour, but injuries restricted him to a combined 18 minutes of play and he didn't feature in any of the Tests. His only international cap came the following year when he and GPS teammate Daniel Herbert debuted against Ireland at the Sydney Football Stadium. He came on off the bench to play on the wing.
