1997 Nebelhorn Trophy
The 1997 Nebelhorn Trophy took place between August 26 and 29, 1997. It is an international senior-level figure skating competition organized by the Deutsche Eislauf-Union and held annually in Oberstdorf, Germany. The competition is named after the Nebelhorn, a nearby mountain. It was one of the first international senior competitions of the season. Skaters were entered by their respective national federations, rather than receiving individual invitations as in the Grand Prix of Figure Skating, and competed in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. Oberstdorf
Oberstdorf ( Low Alemannic: ''Oberschdorf'') is a municipality and skiing and hiking town in Germany, located in the Allgäu region of the Bavarian Alps. It is the southernmost settlement in Germany and one of its highest towns. At the center of Oberstdorf is a church whose tall spire serves as a landmark for navigating around town. Ice Dance
Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976. According to the International Skating Union (ISU), the governing body of figure skating, an ice dance team consists of one woman and one man. Ice dance, like pairs skating, pair skating, has its roots in the "combined skating" developed in the 19th century by skating clubs and organizations and in recreational social skating. Couples and friends would skate waltzes, marches, and other social dances. The first steps in ice dance were similar to those used in ballroom dancing. Róbert Kažimír (born 30 March 1978) is a Slovak former competitive figure skater. He is a four-time national champion and competed for Slovakia at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, where he placed 26th. Hristo Turlakov ( bg, Христо Турлаков, born 20 March 1979) is a Bulgarian former competitive figure skater. Competing as a single skater, he appeared at six European Championships. His highest placement was 21st in 2003. Gheorghe Chiper
Gheorghe Chiper (born 8 April 1978) is a Romanian former competitive figure skater. He is an eight-time Romanian national champion and competed at two Olympic Games. He is the first Romanian skater to win a medal on the Grand Prix circuit and the first Romanian to land a quadruple toe loop in competition. Career Chiper competed at three World Junior Championships; his best result was 15th in 1997. Chiper made his senior World Championships debut in 1998, finishing 16th in the qualifying round. The following season, Chiper won his first senior national title. In the 2000–01 season, he was coached by Sylvia Holtes in Groningen, Netherlands. Juri Litvinov (also romanized as Yuriy Litvinov, born May 6, 1978) is a Kazakhstani former competitive figure skater. He is a multiple national champion of Kazakhstan and competed at the 1998 Winter Olympics, World Championships, and Four Continents Championships.
