1997 Men's Intercontinental Cup (field Hockey)
The 1997 Men's Intercontinental Cup was a qualifier for the 1998 Men's Hockey World Cup. It was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from Tuesday March 4 to Saturday March 15, 1997. Twelve nations took part, and they were divided into two groups of six in the preliminary round. 1998 Men's Hockey World Cup
The 1998 Men's Hockey World Cup was the ninth edition of the Men's Hockey World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's national field hockey teams organized by the International Hockey Federation. It was held alongside the women's tournament in Utrecht, Netherlands from 20 June to 1 July 1998. The trophy was won by the Netherlands national field hockey team. Spain came second and Germany came third. The Dutch made history by being the only country to win a tournament at its home ground not only once, but twice. It was the second time The Netherlands had hosted the competition. Location The 9th Hockey World Cup was held in Galgenwaard Stadium at Utrecht, Netherlands. The stadium was opened in 1982, and was mainly used for football, and was the home of the football club FC Utrecht. Eduardo Héctor Peralta Castillo (born 18 April 1947) is a Chilean former footballer who played as a defensive midfielder for clubs in Chile and Mexico. Club career A product of Universidad de Chile youth system, he made his debut in 1966 making two appearances, and stayed with the club until 1972. Peralta scored a remembered goal against the Uruguayan club Nacional in the second phase of the 1970 Copa Libertadores, where the team reached the semi-finals. Next he spent five seasons in Mexico with San Luis Potosí (1972–75) and Atlético Potosino (1976), coinciding in the Mexican football with his former fellow Roberto Hodge and also his compatriots Osvaldo Castro and Pedro Pinto.
