1997 Indianapolis Colts Season
The 1997 Indianapolis Colts season was the 45th season for the team in the National Football League and 14th in Indianapolis. The Colts finished the National Football League’s 1997 season with a record of 3 wins and 13 losses, and finished fifth in the AFC East division. The Colts would start horribly, losing their first ten games for their worst start since 1986. They became only the second team to start 0–10 since 1987 after the 1993 Bengals, before an upset home win over eventual NFC Champion Green Bay. That would turn out to be the only good highlight all season for the Colts, as the team fell to a league-worst 3–13 record, and earned the first overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, where they selected quarterback Peyton Manning. American Football Conference East Division
The American Football Conference – Eastern Division or AFC East is one of the four divisions of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Jim Johnson (American Football)
Jim Johnson (May 26, 1941July 28, 2009) was an American football coach, formerly serving as defensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles. Widely regarded as one of the best defensive coordinators in the National Football League (NFL), he was especially known for being a master architect of blitzes, disguising them skillfully and keeping offenses off balance. Ron Blackledge (born April 15, 1938) is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Kent State University from 1978 to 1980, compiling a record of 8–25. Jimmy Robinson (born January 3, 1953) is a former American football wide receiver and retired wide receivers coach of the National Football League (NFL). He played for the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers during his playing career. Eugene Aaron Huey (born July 20, 1947) is a former American football defensive back in the American Football League. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the sixth round of the 1969 NFL Draft and also played for the San Diego Chargers. He played college football at Wyoming. Bill Tobin (born February 16, 1941) is a former professional American football player who is currently a personnel executive for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL). Robert Irsay (March 5, 1923 – January 14, 1997) was an American professional football team owner. He owned the National Football League's Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts franchise from 1972 until his death in 1997.
