Lawlor Events Center
Lawlor Events Center is northern Nevada's largest multi-purpose arena. It is located in Reno, Nevada at the intersection of North Virginia Street and 15th Street on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. It is named after former athletic director, baseball, basketball and football coach Jake Lawlor. It was built in 1983 and has a capacity of 12,000 including 11,536 multi-purpose seats. Bob Thomason
Robert Lesley "Bob" Thomason, Jr. (born March 26, 1949) is a retired American college basketball coach. He coached the University of the Pacific Tigers men's basketball team for 25 seasons from 1988 to 2013. In 25 years at Pacific, Thomason has the most wins in school and Big West history with 437. He was named Big West Conference Coach of the Year five times (1992–93, 1996–97, 2003–04, 2004–05 and 2005–06). Early life and college playing career Born in San Jose, California, Thomason graduated from Clayton Valley High School in Concord in 1967, where he played for coach Bruce Iverson. Thomson then attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton. At Pacific, Thomason played shooting guard for the Pacific Tigers from 1968 to 1971. The Big West men's basketball tournament (formerly the Pacific Coast Athletic Association men's basketball tournament) is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the Big West Conference. It is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. Only the top eight teams in the conference qualify for the tournament. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. The 1997 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 64 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 13, 1997, and ended with the championship game on March 31 in Indianapolis, Indiana at the RCA Dome. A total of 63 games were played. The Final Four consisted of Kentucky, who entered the tournament as the defending national champions, Minnesota, making their first Final Four appearance, Arizona, making their third Final Four appearance and first since 1994, and North Carolina, making their thirteenth Final Four appearance and first since 1995. In the national championship game, Arizona defeated Kentucky in overtime 84–79 to win their first national championship. 1996–97 Idaho Vandals Men's Basketball Team
The 1996–97 Idaho Vandals men's basketball team represented the University of Idaho during the 1996–97 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. New members of the Big West Conference, the Vandals were led by first-year head coach Kermit Davis (third overall) and played their home games on campus at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho. The Vandals were 13–17 in the regular season and in conference play, fifth in the East division standings, but failed to qualify for the Big West tournament. It was the first time Idaho had missed the postseason in eighteen years. An assistant at Idaho for two seasons under Tim Floyd, Davis was promoted to head coach in April 1988.
