1996–97 UC Irvine Anteaters Men's Basketball Team
The 1996–97 UC Irvine Anteaters men's basketball team represented the University of California, Irvine during the 1996–97 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Anteaters were led by sixth year head coach Rod Baker and played at the Bren Events Center and were members of the Big West Conference. They finished with the worst record in school history and Rod Baker was dismissed as head coach at the end of the season. Matadome
Premier America Credit Union Arena, formerly Matador Gymnasium, and formerly known by its nickname the Matadome, is a 2,500 seat, indoor multi-purpose stadium on the campus of California State University, Northridge in Northridge, California. The Matadome was renovated in 2014. With the renovation, the arena now has a capacity of 2,500. History and renovations The Matadome, unlike many other traditional stadia, is located within Redwood Hall, which hosts many kinesiology classes for Cal State Northridge. Kibbie Dome
The William H. Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center (commonly known as the Kibbie Dome) is a multi-purpose indoor athletic stadium in the northwest United States, on the campus of the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. It is the home of the Idaho Vandals of the Big Sky Conference for four sports (football, tennis, indoor track and field, soccer). Basketball was played in the venue until the autumn 2021 opening of the adjacent Idaho Central Credit Union Arena (ICCU Arena). The 1996–97 Idaho Vandals men's basketball team represented the University of Idaho during the 1996–97 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. New members of the Big West Conference, the Vandals were led by first-year head coach Kermit Davis (third overall) and played their home games on campus at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho. The Vandals were 13–17 in the regular season and in conference play, fifth in the East division standings, but failed to qualify for the Big West tournament. It was the first time Idaho had missed the postseason in eighteen years. An assistant at Idaho for two seasons under Tim Floyd, Davis was promoted to head coach in April 1988. After consecutive conference titles and NCAA appearances, he left in March 1990 for Texas A&M, but lasted only one season there.
