1996 IAAF World Cross Country Championships – Senior Men's Race
The Senior men's race at the 1996 IAAF World Cross Country Championships was held in Stellenbosch, South Africa, at the Danie Craven Stadium on March 23, 1996. A preview on the event was given in the ''Glasgow Herald'', and a report in ''The New York Times''. Complete results, medallists, and the results of British athletes were published. IAAF
World Athletics, formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation (from 1912 to 2001) and International Association of Athletics Federations (from 2001 to 2019, both abbreviated as the IAAF) is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, race walking, mountain running, and ultra running. Included in its charge are the standardization of rules and regulations for the sports, certification of athletic facilities, recognition and management of world records, and the organisation and sanctioning of athletics competitions, including the World Athletics Championships. Smail-3 is a mail transfer agent (MTA) used on Unix-like operating systems. It is Free Software and is licensed under the GNU GPL. It aims to be a general and flexible mailer with extensive facilities for checking incoming e-mail and for routing between disparate networks. It is still in use on the Internet, but it has been mostly superseded by Exim (which was originally based on Smail) and other more modern mail transfer agents. Stephen James "Steve" Moneghetti, (born 26 September 1962), is an Australian long-distance runner and physical health consultant, represented Australia on many occasions. Moneghetti has a degree in civil engineering, a graduate diploma in education and an honorary doctorate from the University of Ballarat. He is a personal development consultant with the Ministry of Education and chair of the Victorian Review into Physical and Sport Education in Schools. Moneghetti was born in Ballarat, Victoria, and was not considered to be a good runner in primary school. When he attempted to join Little Athletics, his father was told that Moneghetti was not wanted. Abderrahim Zitouna (born 20 December 1970) is a retired Moroccan long-distance runner. He specialized in the 10,000 metres and cross-country running. On the track, Zitouna won the silver medal at the 1997 Mediterranean Games and finished thirteenth at the 1997 World Championships. His personal best time was 27.36.73 minutes, achieved in May 1997 in Hengelo. Zitouna also competed at the World Cross Country Championships in 1992, 1995, 1996 and 1997. Jonathan Michael Brown (born 27 February 1971) is a former British long-distance runner who specialised in 10,000 metres, cross country running and the marathon.
