1995 World Championships In Athletics – Women's Triple Jump
These are the official results of the Women's Triple Jump event at the 1995 IAAF World Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. There were a total number of 32 participating athletes, with two qualifying groups and the final held on Thursday August 10, 1995. This event was jumping in the same facility as Jonathan Edwards had set the still standing world record for men just three days earlier. Over the course of his series, Edwards had added 32 cm to Willie Banks' previous record that had stood for over a decade. The leader from the qualifying round was former world record holder Iolanda Chen. The final started uneventfully with Rodica Mateescu taking the lead with 14.44m. The second round intensified with world record holder and defending champion Anna Biryukova jumping 14.85m to take the lead and Iva Prandzheva moving into second with a 14.76m. Šárka Kašpárková
Šárka Kašpárková (, born 20 May 1971) is a Czech Republic, Czech former track and field athlete who specialised in the triple jump. She attended her first Summer Olympics in 1992 Summer Olympics, 1992, participating in the high jump. She switched to the triple jump when it was given world championships status and won an Olympic bronze medal in the discipline at the 1996 Atlanta Games. She won another bronze at the 1997 IAAF World Indoor Championships and improved further by becoming the world champion at the 1997 World Championships in Athletics – her winning jump of 15.20 m was the second-farthest ever at the time. She won both the indoor and outdoor silver medals at the European Athletics Championships. Michelle Amanda Robinson (née Griffith) (born 6 October 1971) is a retired female England, English triple jumper who was born in Wembley, Greater London, in the United Kingdom. Athletics career Michelle Griffith represented Great Britain at the 1996 Summer Olympics, and England at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, England in the triple jump event at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
