These are the official results of the Women's Heptathlon competition at the 1995 World Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. Heptathlon
A heptathlon is a track and field combined events contest made up of seven events. The name derives from the Greek επτά (hepta, meaning "seven") and ἄθλος (áthlos, or ἄθλον, áthlon, meaning "competition"). A competitor in a heptathlon is referred to as a heptathlete. There are two heptathlons – the men's and the women's heptathlon – composed of different events. The men's heptathlon is older and is held indoors, while the women's is held outdoors and was introduced in the 1980s, first appearing in the Olympics in 1984. LeShundra "DeDee" Nathan (born April 20, 1968, in Birmingham, Alabama) is a retired heptathlete from the United States, who won the gold medal at the 1991 Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba. She is a two-time U.S. champion (2000 and 2001) and the 1999 World Indoor pentathlon gold medalist. She attended high school at South Side High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana and later on graduated from Indiana University. Peggy Beer (born 15 September 1969 in East Berlin) is a retired German heptathlete. Remigija Nazarovienė (née Sablovskaitė; born 2 June 1967 in Ashkabad, Turkmen SSR) is a retired Lithuanian heptathlete. Jane Jamieson (born 23 June 1975) is a track and field athlete from Australia. Jamieson has competed in the heptathlon in the Olympic Games, World Championships and Commonwealth Games, finishing with Top-10 results at each level, including a gold medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. Since the 2000 Olympic Games, Jamieson has been hampered by a string of knee, hamstring and calf injuries and missed the 2004 Olympic Games due to injury.
