The Scotties Tournament of Hearts (''french: Le Tournoi des Cœurs Scotties''; commonly referred to as the Scotties) is the annual Canadian women's curling championship, sanctioned by Curling Canada, formerly called the Canadian Curling Association. The winner goes on to represent Canada at the women's world curling championships. Since 1985, the winner also gets to return to the following year's tournament as "Team Canada". It is formally known as the "Canadian Women's Curling Championship". Maureen Reillette "Rebbie" Jackson-Brown (; born May 29, 1950) is an American singer, actress, and the eldest child of the Jackson family of musicians. She first performed on stage with her siblings during shows in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in 1974, before subsequently appearing in the television series ''The Jacksons''. The Fort Rouge Curling Club is a curling club located in the Fort Rouge district of Winnipeg, Manitoba. History The Fort Rouge Curling Club joined the Manitoba Curling Association in 1915, while the Fort Rouge Ladies Curling Club was one of the founding members of the Manitoba Ladies Curling Association in 1924. In 1919, the first Fort Rouge Curling Club rink was built at the corner of Kylemore Avenue and Osborne Street. This building would later be demolished, and a new facility was built in 1959, a few blocks away on Daly Street where it stands today. Christine "Chris" Jurgenson ( Bodogh; born c. 1953) is a Canadian curler from British Columbia. She is a former World Champion, and was lead for the championship team at the World Senior Curling Championship in 2009 and skip for the 2011 World Senior Curling Championships . Jurgenson grew up in Ontario, where she played with her sister, Marilyn Bodogh. She won her first provincial title in 1980. She skipped Ontario to a 7–5 record at the 1980 Canadian Ladies Curling Association Championship. In 1983, she played in Alberta, and made her second national championship, playing second for Cathy Shaw. At the 1983 Scott Tournament of Hearts, the team lost 5–4 to Nova Scotia, skipped by Penny LaRocque. In 1986, she was back playing with her sister in Ontario, playing second for her. Marla Mallett (born December 19, 1970 as Marla Geiger in Nanaimo, British Columbia) is a Canadian curler from Walnut Grove, British Columbia. Career 1988–1997 Mallett is a three time former Canadian and World Junior champion in 1988 playing with for Julie Sutton (Skinner). In 1995 Mallett played in her first Tournament of Hearts. She played skip for the British Columbia team, and finished the round robin with a 6–5 record. She would then join up with Kelley Owen (Law), and played in the 1997 Scott Tournament of Hearts. The team finished in last place, with a 3–8 record that year. 2009–current Mallett would not return to the Hearts until the 2009 event, held in her home province. Richmond Winter Club
The Richmond Curling Centre is an eight-sheet curling facility in Richmond, British Columbia that is the home of the Richmond Curling Club. The club is located on Hollybridge Way in the Richmond City Centre neighbourhood of the city. The club was founded in 1958, with the first organizational meeting held on October 8 of that year. One week later a 3.4-acre plot of land was bought on Cambie Road for $200,000. The club was finally opened on January 1, 1961, as the Richmond Winter Club with plans to expand the facility to include skating and racket sports. Later that year the Richmond Ladies Curling Club was also founded. In 1963 a lounge was added to the building and in 1965 a parking lot was added.
