1995 Molise Regional Election
The Molise regional election of 1995 took place on 23 April 1995. Marcello Veneziale ( Democratic Party of the Left) was elected President of the Region, defeating Quintino Pallante ( National Alliance) by a narrow margin. For the first time the President of the Region was directly elected by the people, although the election was not yet binding and the President-elect could have been replaced during the term. This is precisely what happened in 1998, when a centrist majority ousted Veneziale and replaced him with Michele Iorio (a splinter of the Italian People's Party, who switched to the Democratic Union for the Republic). Regional Council Of Molise
The Regional Council of Molise (Italian: ''Consiglio Regionale del Molise'') is the parliament, legislative assembly of Molise. It was first elected in 1970, when the Regions of Italy, ordinary regions were instituted, on the basis of the Constitution of Italy of 1948. Composition The Regional Council of Molise was originally composed of 30 regional councillors. Following the decree-law n. 138 of 13 August 2011, the number of regional councillors was reduced to 20, with an additional seat reserved for the President of the Region. The Christian Democratic Centre ( it, Centro Cristiano Democratico, CCD) was a Christian-democratic political party in Italy from 1994 to 2002. Formed from a right-wing split from Christian Democracy, the party joined the centre-right coalition, and was a member of the European People's Party (EPP). Communist Refoundation Party
The Communist Refoundation Party ( it, Partito della Rifondazione Comunista, PRC) is a communist political party in Italy that emerged from a split of the Italian Communist Party (PCI) in 1991. The party's secretary is Maurizio Acerbo, who replaced Paolo Ferrero in 2017. Armando Cossutta was the party's founder, while Fausto Bertinotti its longest-serving leader (1994–2008). Michele Iorio
Angelo Michele Iorio (born 17 January 1948) is an Italian politician, former President of Molise from 1998 to 1999 and from 2001 to 2013. Biography After graduating in Medicine at the Sapienza University of Rome, Iorio began his medical career as a surgeon at the Ospedale Civile in Isernia. In 1975 he joined the Christian Democracy and between 1980 and 1990 he held various positions in local administrations: councilor for public works in the province of Isernia, councilor for urban planning and Mayor of Isernia. In 1994, after the dissolution of the DC, he joined the Italian People's Party, in whose lists he was elected for the 1995 regional elections. In February 1998 Iorio leaves the PPI to join Forza Italia.
