1995 Houston Oilers Season
The 1995 Houston Oilers season was the 36th season overall and 26th with the National Football League (NFL). Their 7–9 record bested their previous season's output of 2–14, but they failed to qualify for the playoffs for the second consecutive year. The Oilers drafted quarterback Steve McNair with the third overall draft pick, but he started the season on the bench behind free agent signee Chris Chandler, who played solid football as the team showed improved in their first full year under Jeff Fisher. The story of the season came on November 16 when owner Bud Adams announced plans to move the team to Nashville when the lease at the Astrodome expired in 1998. The Oilers were the debut opponent of the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars, just as they had been with the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL's previous expansion. AFC North
The American Football Conference – Northern Division or AFC North is one of the four divisions of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The division was adopted after the restructuring of the 2002 NFL season, when the league realigned divisions after expanding to 32 teams. This is the only division in the NFL in which no member team has hosted a Super Bowl in their stadiums. Formation The AFC North currently has four members: Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers. Tight End
The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns. Because of the hybrid nature of the position, the tight end's role in any given offense depends on the tactical preferences and philosophy of the head coach as well as overall team dynamic. Michael Roan
Michael Phillip Roan (born August 29, 1972) is a former professional American football tight end in the National Football League. He is now a high school teacher, vineyard owner and former football coach. Amateur Career A graduate and standout athlete at Iowa City High School, Roan played mostly on the defensive line and fullback during his high school days. He also was named to the Iowa 3A All-State Basketball Team in 1990. He was converted to the tight end position at the University of Wisconsin, and was a member of the 1994 Rose Bowl championship squad. Cornerback
A cornerback (CB) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary in gridiron football. Cornerbacks cover receivers most of the time, but also blitz and defend against such offensive running plays as sweeps and reverses. They create turnovers through hard tackles, interceptions, and deflecting forward passes. Other members of the defensive backfield include strong and free safeties. A running back (RB) is a member of the offensive backfield in gridiron football. Rodney Dejuane Thomas (March 30, 1973 – June 14, 2014) was a professional American football player who played running back for seven seasons for the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, and Atlanta Falcons. Thomas was the cousin of former NFL safety Terrence Kiel. Early life and education Born in Trinity, Texas, on March 30, 1973, Thomas attended Groveton High School in Groveton, Texas. Christopher Dwayne Sanders (born May 8, 1972) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver for seven seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Houston/Tennessee Oilers/Titans. He attended Montbello High School in Denver, Colorado and was a multi-sport athlete at Ohio State University. Sanders, however, holds the dubious NFL record for the fewest career rushing yards. He rushed 4 times in his career - all for negative yards. Ohio State Sanders was a member of the Ohio State track and field team from 1992 to 1994.
