The 1995 Boston Red Sox season was the 95th season in the franchise's Major League Baseball history. Mo Vaughn
Maurice Samuel Vaughn (born December 15, 1967), nicknamed "The Hit Dog", is an American former Major League Baseball first baseman who played for the Boston Red Sox, Anaheim Angels, and New York Mets from 1991 to 2003. He was a three-time All-Star selection and won the American League MVP award in with Boston. Early life and education Vaughn attended New Canaan Country School in New Canaan, Connecticut. He played baseball for Trinity-Pawling School in Pawling, New York. Vaughn went on to play college baseball at Seton Hall for head coach Mike Sheppard. While there he set the school record for home runs with 28. In his three years at Seton Hall he hit a total of 57 home runs and 218 RBIs, both team records. Jeffrey Lavern McNeely (born October 18, 1969) is a former center fielder/designated hitter in Major League Baseball who played briefly for the Boston Red Sox during the 1993 season. Listed at 6' 2", 190 lb., McNeely batted and threw right-handed. He attended Spartanburg Methodist College. In a season/career, McNeely was a .297 hitter (11-for-37) with 10 runs and six stolen bases in 21 games, including one double, one triple, one RBI, a .409 on-base percentage without home runs. Vaughn Michael Eshelman (May 22, 1969 – July 24, 2018) was an American Major League Baseball pitcher who played from 1995 through 1997 for the Boston Red Sox. Listed at , 205 lb., he batted and threw left-handed. Eshelman was born at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia and lived in western Pennsylvania and Dayton, Ohio until his family moved to Houston in 1980. He pitched for Westfield High School in Houston, Blinn College, and the University of Houston before being drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the fourth round of the 1991 amateur draft. William Joseph Haselman (born May 25, 1966) is an American professional baseball coach and former player. He played as a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 13 seasons between 1990 and 2003. A first-round selection in the 1987 MLB draft, he played for the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers. He later was the bullpen coach and first base coach for the Red Sox, and currently is the third base and catching coach for the Los Angeles Angels. The 1995 Cleveland Indians season was the Major League Baseball season that led to the Indians returning to the World Series for the first time since 1954. In a season that started late by 18 games – giving it just 144 games – the Indians finished in first place in the American League Central Division with a record of 100 wins and 44 losses. 1994–95 Major League Baseball Strike
The 1994–95 Major League Baseball strike was the eighth and longest work stoppage in baseball history, as well as the fourth in-season work stoppage in 22 years. The strike began on August 12, 1994, and resulted in the remainder of that season, including the postseason and the World Series, being canceled. This was the first time in ninety years, since 1904, that a World Series was not played. The strike was suspended on April 2, 1995, after 232 days, making it the longest such stoppage in MLB history and the longest work stoppage in major league professional sports at the time (breaking the record set by the 1981 strike, also in MLB).
