The 1994 Swedish Golf Tour, titled as the 1994 Scandinavian Golf Tour, was the 11th season of the Swedish Golf Tour, the main professional golf tour in Sweden since it was formed in 1984, with most tournaments being incorporated into the Challenge Tour between 1989 and 1998. Mats Hallberg
Mats Hallberg (born 12 December 1964) is a retired Swedish professional golfer. Hallberg turned professional in 1984 and played on the Swedish Tour before joining the European Tour in 1988. On the tour he had eight top-10 finishes, including third at the 1996 Scottish Open and the 1997 Volvo Scandinavian Masters, earning a total of €617,028. His biggest success in a major came at the 1995 Open Championship where he shot a first round of 68 (−4), one stroke off the lead. John Daly eventually won at −6 after a playoff, and Hallberg finished tied for 68th along with Tiger Woods. Joakim Grönhagen
Joakim Grönhagen (born 25 October 1972) is a Swedish professional golfer who played on the Challenge Tour and European Tour. Career Grönhagen played 121 tournaments on the Challenge Tour 1992–2001, including one win. In 1992, he was runner-up at the Siab Open. In 1994, he narrowly missed out on two victories, losing the Swedish Matchplay Championship final to Per Nyman 1 up, and losing a playoff at the Volvo Finnish Open to Mikael Piltz. Grönhagen played on the 1995 European Tour with best finish T25 at Volvo Scandinavian Masters, ending up 138th in the season rankings. After retiring from tour, Grönhagen became a golf instructor, coaching Simon Forsström and HRH Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland. Early life Mednick was born in Bethesda, Maryland in the United States to an American father and a Swedish mother, and moved to Sweden when he was eight years old. His great-grandparents emigrated from Kiev in the Ukraine, and the authorities in the United States changed their family name from Mednikov to Mednick. Amateur career Mednick had a successful amateur career, representing Gävle Golf Club, situated 180 kilometres north of Stockholm, Sweden, in the same player generation as club mates, European Tour winner to be, Peter Hedblom and 1988 Amateur Championship winner Cristian Härdin. The Swedish PGA Championship for men is a golf tournament played annually in Sweden since 1970. It has been an event on the Swedish Golf Tour schedule since 1984 and the Nordic Golf League since 1999. History From its beginning in 1970, it was a championship for members of the PGA of Sweden. Since 1986, the tournament has been open to foreign players. The tournament was part of the Challenge Tour from 1990 to 1996 and from 2001 to 2005. Raymond Burns (golfer)
Raymond Burns (born 8 October 1973) is a Northern Irish professional golfer. Burns was born in Banbridge, County Down and turned professional in 1993 after representing Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup. He missed out on qualifying for the European Tour at qualifying school at the end of 1993, and decided to play on the second tier Challenge Tour in 1994. He won twice during his rookie season and topped the Challenge Tour Rankings to secure his card on the European Tour for 1995. Burns finished 8th on his European Tour début at the Dubai Desert Classic and maintained his place on the European Tour through the end of the 1998 season. A loss of form that season saw him return to the Challenge Tour in 1999, where he again struggled, failing to make the cut in any of his 11 starts. Per Nyman (born 14 February 1968) is a Swedish professional golfer. Nyman was born in Kristianstad and attended Fresno State University in California, United States, where he twice won the GCAA All-America Scholar Award. He turned professional after graduating in 1992. He played on the European Tour and its official development tour, the Challenge Tour, between 1993 and 2004. He won four times on the Challenge Tour, including twice in 1995, and finished 2nd on the Challenge Tour Rankings in 1998. He was also medalist at the European Tour Qualifying School Final Stage in 2002. He should not be confused with fellow professional golfer and two-time Challenge Tour winner Per G. Nyman. The Swedish Match Play Championship is a golf tournament played since 1904, held for both men and women. It is the oldest and most traditional golf tournament in Sweden. The name SM is shortening in Swedish language for "Svenska Mästerskapet" (the Swedish Championship). Daniel Chopra
Daniel Samir Chopra (born 23 December 1973) is a Swedish professional golfer. Chopra was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He represents Sweden and his mother was Swedish, but his father was Indian and Daniel moved to India at age seven where he was raised by his grandparents. He won the All-India Junior Golf Championship at age 14. Chopra turned professional in 1992. From 1996 to 2002 he played intermittently on the European Tour, sometimes failing to retain his tour card, and in 2004 he joined the U.S.-based PGA Tour.
