The 1994 Patriot League men's basketball tournament was played at Alumni Hall in Annapolis, Maryland after the conclusion of the 1993–94 regular season. Top seed Navy defeated #3 seed , 78–76 in the championship game, to win its first Patriot League Tournament title. The Midshipmen earned an automatic bid to the 1994 NCAA tournament as #16 seed in the West region. Format All eight league members participated in the tournament, with teams seeded according to regular season conference record. Play began with the quarterfinal round. Alumni Hall (Navy)
Alumni Hall is an indoor stadium at the United States Naval Academy, in Annapolis in the U.S. state of Maryland. Completed in 1991, it seats 5,710 and serves as the primary assembly hall for the Brigade of Midshipmen. It is used for athletic contests — including basketball and wrestling — and is home for the Naval Academy women's and men's basketball teams, members of the Patriot League. Additionally, it is adaptable for lectures, assemblies, theatrical productions, concerts and official ceremonies and is home for the Bob Hope Center for the Performing Arts. It has dining facilities where dinners and receptions are held. It also serves as an alternate location for Naval Academy graduation ceremonies when Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium cannot be used due to bad weather. Don DeVoe
Donald Eugene DeVoe (born December 31, 1941) is a former American college basketball coach and former player. DeVoe played college basketball for Ohio State University, and later served as the head coach for Virginia Tech, the University of Wyoming, the University of Tennessee, the University of Florida and the United States Naval Academy. Early life and playing career Born in Sabina, Ohio, DeVoe grew up in the small town of Port William, Ohio. He attended Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where he played for coach Fred Taylor's Ohio State Buckeyes from 1962 to 1964. He was a member of the 1962 Buckeyes team that lost to the Cincinnati Bearcats in the final game of the NCAA Tournament, as well as the Buckeyes' Big Ten Conference champion teams of 1963 and 1964. The winner of the tournament is awarded an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. 1994 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1994 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 64 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 17, 1994, and ended with the championship game on April 4 in Charlotte, North Carolina, played at Charlotte Coliseum. A total of 63 games were played. The Final Four consisted of Arkansas, making their fifth trip and first since 1990, Arizona, making their second ever trip and first since 1988, Florida, making their first ever trip, and Duke, making their sixth trip in the last seven tournaments. The Patriot League is a collegiate athletic conference comprising private institutions of higher education and two United States service academies based in the Northeastern United States.
