1994 Oregon Ducks Football Team
The 1994 Oregon Ducks football team represented the University of Oregon in the Pacific-10 Conference during the 1994 NCAA Division I-A football season. The Ducks were led by head coach Rich Brooks, who was in his 18th and final season as head coach, and played their home games at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon. Oregon was 9–3 in the regular season and won their first ever outright conference championship (7–1); they appeared in the Rose Bowl for the first time in 37 years. Rich Brooks
Richard Llewellyn Brooks (born August 20, 1941) is a retired American football player and coach. He was the head coach at the University of OregonMcCann, Michael C. (1995). Oregon Ducks Football: 100 Years of Glory. Eugene, Oregon: McCann Communications Corp. . from 1977 to 1994, the National Football League's St. Louis Rams from 1995 to 1996, and the University of Kentucky from 2003 to 2009. Brooks' 1994 Oregon team won the Pac-10 title and played in the 1995 Rose Bowl. For his efforts that season, he won a number of national coaching awards. The University of Oregon named the field at Autzen Stadium ''Rich Brooks Field'' in honor of his 18 seasons as coach for the Ducks. The 1994 Arizona Wildcats football team represented University of Arizona during the 1994 NCAA college football season. The offense scored 274 points while the defense allowed 190 points. Under head coach Dick Tomey in his eighth season, the Wildcats completed the season with a record of 8–4 (6–2 against Pac-10 opponents) and lost to Utah in the Freedom Bowl. With most of their “Desert Swarm” defense returning, Arizona attempted to improve on their successful 1993 season and entered 1994 as contenders for the Rose Bowl. However, those expectations would fall short late in the season, and the Wildcats still managed to earn a winning record and bowl appearance. The Oregon–Washington football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies of the Pac-12 Conference. The respective campuses in Eugene and Seattle are apart, via Interstate 5. The 1994 Washington Huskies football team was an American football team that represented the University of Washington during the 1994 NCAA Division I-A football season. In its second season under head coach Jim Lambright, the team compiled a 7–4 record, finished in fourth place in the Pacific-10 Conference, and outscored its opponents by a combined total of 295 to 233. In the third game, the Huskies upset Miami at the Orange Bowl, breaking the Hurricanes' home winning streak at 58 games. Midway through the season, Washington was 5–1 and ranked ninth, but lost three of the final five games. All four losses were on the road to Pac-10 opponents. Due to earlier sanctions, the Huskies were ineligible for a bowl as they were serving the second year of a two year bowl ban.
