The 1994 Florida Gators football team represented the University of Florida during the 1994 NCAA Division I-A football season. The season was Steve Spurrier's fifth as the head coach of the Florida Gators football team. Steve Spurrier
Stephen Orr Spurrier (born April 20, 1945) is an American former American football, football quarterback and coach who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 10 seasons before coaching for 38 years, primarily in college. He is often referred to by his nickname, "the Head Ball Coach". Spurrier was a multi-sport all-state athlete at Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tennessee. He attended the University of Florida, where he won the 1966 Heisman Trophy as a college football quarterback with the Florida Gators. The San Francisco 49ers picked him in the first round of the 1967 NFL draft, and he spent a decade playing professionally in the National Football League (NFL), mainly as a backup quarterback and punter (football), punter. Florida–Tennessee Football Rivalry
The Florida–Tennessee football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Florida Gators football team of the University of Florida and Tennessee Volunteers football team of the University of Tennessee, who first met on the football field in 1916. The Gators and Vols have competed in the same athletic conference since Florida joined the now-defunct Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association in 1910, and the schools were founding members of the Southeastern Conference in 1932. The Florida–Georgia football rivalry is an American college football rivalry game played annually by the University of Florida Gators and the University of Georgia Bulldogs, both members of the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference. The programs first met in 1904 or 1915 (the status of the first game is disputed) and have played every season since 1926 except for a war-time interruption in 1943. The Auburn–Florida football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Auburn Tigers football team of Auburn University and Florida Gators football team of the University of Florida which was first played in 1912. 1994 Auburn Tigers Football Team
The 1994 Auburn Tigers football team represented Auburn University in the 1994 NCAA Division I-A football season. Led by second-year head coach Terry Bowden, they continued the success of the previous season by going 9–1–1. Some of Auburn's wins came in dramatic fashion. The Tigers made five interceptions in the 4th quarter against LSU and completed a last-second pass to beat Florida in Gainesville. Auburn won their first nine games of the season to extend a winning streak extending from 1993 to 20 games before ending the year with a tie against Georgia and a loss to Alabama. Auburn returned to television this season, but was still serving a postseason ban that made them ineligible for a bowl game. The Florida–LSU football rivalry, also known as the Swamp Bowl, is an American college football college rivalry, rivalry between the Florida Gators football team of the University of Florida and LSU Tigers football team of Louisiana State University. Although both universities were founding members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in December 1932, the Gators and Tigers did not meet on the gridiron until 1937, and have been annual opponents only since 1971. 1994 LSU Tigers Football Team
The 1994 LSU Tigers football team represented Louisiana State University in the 1994 NCAA Division I-A football season. LSU finished with a 4–7 overall record (3–5 in SEC play). It was Curley Hallman's final season as head coach, as he was fired with two games remaining in the season, although he coached those contests. The beginning of the end for Hallman came in the season's third game. LSU led an Auburn squad, which went 11–0 in 1993 and won its first two games of 1994 under Terry Bowden, 23–9 going into the final period, but lost 30–26 when Auburn returned three interceptions for touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Raycom Sports is an American producer of sports television programs. It is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, and owned and operated by Gray Television. It was founded in 1979 by husband and wife, Rick and Dee Ray. In the 1980s, Raycom Sports established a prominent joint venture with Jefferson-Pilot Communications which made them partners on the main Atlantic Coast Conference basketball package. Raycom was acquired in 1994 by Ellis Communications. Two years later, Ellis was acquired by a group led by Retirement Systems of Alabama, who renamed the entire company Raycom Media to build upon the awareness of Raycom Sports. Oxford, Mississippi
Oxford is a city and college town in the U.S. state of Mississippi. Oxford lies 75 miles (121 km) south-southeast of Memphis, Tennessee, and is the county seat of Lafayette County.
