Shot Put
The shot put is a track and field event involving "putting" (throwing) a heavy spherical ball—the ''shot''—as far as possible. The shot put competition for men has been a part of the modern Olympics since their revival in 1896, and women's competition began in 1948. History Homer mentions competitions of rock throwing by soldiers during the Siege of Troy but there is no record of any dead weights being thrown in Greek competitions. The first evidence for stone- or weight-throwing events were in the Scottish Highlands, and date back to approximately the first century. In the 16th century King Henry VIII was noted for his prowess in court competitions of weight and hammer throwing. The first events resembling the modern shot put likely occurred in the Middle Ages when soldiers held competitions in which they hurled cannonballs. Shot put competitions were first recorded in early 19th century Scotland, and were a part of the British Amateur Championships beginning in 1866. ...

Anna Anatoliyivna Romanova (born 21 February 1985) is a Ukrainian politician, former Member of the Ukrainian Parliament, member of the parliamentary faction Samopomich Union. She is former deputy mayor of Chernihiv. In the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election she was #21 on the election ballot of Samopomich. Katarina Sederholm
Katarina Sederholm, married Hoff (born ) is a Finnish-Norwegian shot putter and weightlifter. She competed at the 1994 European Athletics Championships in her native Finland, but finished last. She never became Finnish champion, but won the Finnish indoor championships in 1997. In 1998 she became a Norwegian citizen, and competed at the 1998 European Championships, again without reaching the final. She became Norwegian champion in 1998, 1999 and 2000 before she retired. She represented the club Stjørdal FIK. Her personal best throw was 17.49 metres, achieved in 1996. When becoming Norwegian, she immediately set a Norwegian indoor record with 17.25 metres in Stange. The Norwegian outdoor record was 99 centimetres shorter, and when the outdoor season approached, Sederholm set three Norwegian records in a Bislett stadion meet in May 1998: 16.62—16.73—17.00 metres. Eha Rünne
Eha Rünne (born 25 May 1963 in Tallinn) is a female shot putter and discus thrower from Estonia, who competed in the discus contest at the Athletics at the 1996 Summer Olympics, 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. There she ended up in 26th place (58.24 metres). Rünne set her personal best in the women's discus throw event (63.18 metres) on 13 July 1988 in Pärnu. Corrie de Bruin (born October 26, 1976, in Dordrecht, South Holland) is a retired discus thrower and shot putter from the Netherlands, who represented her native country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States. There she didn't reach the final, after having thrown 55.48 metres in the qualifying heats. Myrtle Sharon Mary Augee (born 4 February 1965 in Greenwich, Greater London) is a female retired English shot putter. Augee now works as a custodial manager in a prison and received an MBE in the Queen’s 2009 birthday honours list. Athletics career Augee represented Great Britain in the 1988 Summer Olympics and 1992 Summer Olympics. She competed at four Commonwealth Games and won a medal on all four occasions. Satu Karoliina Lundahl, née Leppäluoto (born 30 June 1968 in Helsinki) is a retired female weightlifter from Finland, who was nicknamed "Kartsi" during her career. Margaret Tracey Lynes (born 19 February 1963) is a female English former Shot putter and Weightlifter. Athletics career Lynes represented England in the shot put at the Commonwealth Games in 1994 and 1998, and Great Britain at the 1994 European Championships. She won a total of 22 medals at AAA, UK and AAA Indoor Championships between 1986 and 1998, including twice winning the AAA Indoor Championships title (1993/94), finishing second at the 1993 UK Championships, and second at the 1995 AAA Championships.
