1993–94 Charlotte Hornets Season
The 1993–94 NBA season was the sixth season for the Charlotte Hornets in the National Basketball Association. During the off-season, the Hornets acquired Hersey Hawkins from the Philadelphia 76ers, and Eddie Johnson from the Seattle SuperSonics. Coming off their first playoff appearance, the Hornets won six of their first eight games as they played around .500 for the first half of the season. In December, the team traded Johnny Newman to the New Jersey Nets in exchange for Rumeal Robinson. However, the Hornets would soon struggle as Larry Johnson injured his back, and second-year star Alonzo Mourning was out with a torn calf muscle and sprained ankle. Allan Bristow
Allan Mercer Bristow, Jr. (born August 23, 1951) is an American former professional basketball player, coach, and executive. Bristow played college basketball at Virginia Tech, and was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round of the 1973 NBA draft. A 6 ft 7 in, small forward, he had a 10-year career in both the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the American Basketball Association (ABA), playing for the Sixers, the San Antonio Spurs (in both leagues), the Utah Jazz, and finishing his playing career with the Dallas Mavericks. His nickname was "Disco". In 1991, Bristow was hired to be the third head coach for the recently created Charlotte Hornets franchise, a position he held for five years. Larry Demetric Johnson (born March 14, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player who spent his career as a power forward with the Charlotte Hornets and the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). In 2008, Johnson was inducted into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame. He was then inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame on November 24, 2019. The 1994–95 NBA season was the Kings' 46th season in the National Basketball Association, and tenth season in Sacramento. In the 1994 NBA draft, the Kings selected Brian Grant out of Xavier University with the eighth overall pick. During the off-season, the team signed free agent Frank Brickowski, who missed the entire season with a preseason shoulder injury, and never played for the team during the regular season. With the arrivals of Grant, and second round draft pick Michael Smith, and replacing Lionel Simmons as the team's starting small forward with Walt Williams, the Kings played above .500 for the first half of the season with a 25–20 record at the All-Star break. Tyrone Curtis "Muggsy" Bogues (born January 9, 1965) is a former American basketball player. The shortest player ever to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Bogues played point guard for four teams during his 14-season career in the NBA. Although best known for his ten seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, he also played for the Washington Bullets, Golden State Warriors, and Toronto Raptors. 1993–94 Miami Heat Season
The 1993–94 NBA season was the sixth season for the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association (NBA). During the off-season, the Heat signed free agent 7' 7" center Manute Bol, but released him to free agency after only just eight games. Led by the scoring and shooting of Glen Rice and Steve Smith, and the rebounding of Rony Seikaly, the Heat got off to a 16–13 start before losing seven straight games afterwards in January, and held a 23–24 record at the All-Star break. However, they would post a 7-game winning streak between February and March, but would then lose 13 of their final 18 games, finishing the regular season fourth in the Atlantic Division with their first winning record at 42–40. 1993–94 Washington Bullets Season
The 1993–94 NBA season was the Bullets' 33rd season in the National Basketball Association. The Bullets received the sixth overall pick in the 1993 NBA draft, and selected Calbert Cheaney out of Indiana University, and also selected 7' 7" Romanian center Gheorghe Mureșan with the 30th overall pick. In the off-season, the team acquired former All-Star center Kevin Duckworth from the Portland Trail Blazers, signed free agents Kenny Walker and undrafted rookie guard Mitchell Butler, and released LaBradford Smith to free agency after seven games, as he later on signed with the Sacramento Kings. However, Duckworth never lived up to expectations as he struggled with weight problems, where he weighed up to 340 lbs during the season. Marty Conlon
Martin McBride Conlon (born January 19, 1968) is an Irish-American former professional basketball player whose career in the National Basketball Association (NBA) lasted from 1992 through 2000. Conlon started his basketball career at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, New York. Frank Brickowski
Francis Anthony Brickowski (born August 14, 1959) is an American former professional basketball player, formerly in the National Basketball Association (NBA). College and overseas career Born in Bayville, New York, Brickowski played college basketball for four years as a power forward/center for Penn State. He won the John Lawther Award in 1980 as Penn State's MVP. Brickowski was then selected with the 11th pick of the third round of the 1981 NBA draft by the New York Knicks. The Knicks considered him not quite ready for the NBA, so he began his professional basketball career in Italy.
