1993 South Asian Association Of Regional Co-operation Gold Cup
The 1993 South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation Gold Cup was the 1st South Asian Football Federation Cup, held in Lahore, Pakistan (at Railway Stadium) between 16 July 1993 and 23 July 1993. The countries that competed in this tournament were India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Additionally, a Pakistan Junior team participated under the name of Pakistan White. However, their matches were not part of the tournament. This tournament was played as a league where the team which gets the highest points wins the competition. India won the tournament and became the first ever South Asian football champions. 1995 South Asian Gold Cup
The 1995 South Asian Gold Cup (also known as Bristoi Saaro Gold Cup) was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka between 25 March and 2 April. Originally 6 teams participated in the competition, but Maldives withdrew from the competition. SAFF Championship
The South Asian Football Federation Championship, commonly known as SAFF Championship (previously known as ''South Asian Association of Regional Co-operation Gold Cup'' and ''South Asian Football Federation Gold Cup''), is the main international association football competition of the men's national football teams governed by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). Railway Stadium is a football stadium in Lahore, Pakistan and is the home of the Pakistan Railways FC. The stadium has a capacity of 5,000. Inivalappil Mani Vijayan (born 25 April 1969), also known by the nickname Kalo Harin (Blackbuck), is a former professional football player who also captained the India national football team. He played as a striker, where he formed a successful attacking partnership with Bhaichung Bhutia for the India national football team in the late nineties and early 2000s. Vijayan was crowned Indian Player of the Year in 1993, 1997 and 1999, the first player to win the award multiple times. He was also awarded the Arjuna Award in 2003.
