Greenlandic Men's Football Championship
The Greenlandic Football Championship ( kl, Isikkamik Arsaalluni Pissartanngorniunneq, GM, da, Grønlandsmesterskab i fodbold) is the premier men's football competition in Greenland. It was established in 1954 and since 1971, it has been organised by the Football Association of Greenland. This association is not a part of FIFA or any other continental confederations. B-67 is the most successful football team to have won the championship. Format The championship is often called an unusual and unique tournament as the finals last only one week. This is because football clubs in the large country are so far apart. Greenland has no roads between cities, so expensive air or lenghthy sea travel is needed. Therefore the competition has several regional qualifiers, hosted at a single location, before the finals of 8 teams (as of 2022) are hosted at a single location, which changes year-on-year. These locations have included Ammassalik, Nanortalik and Kangaatsiaq. Previous winners List ...

Greenland National Football Team
The Greenland national football team represents Greenland in non-FIFA international tournaments. It is controlled by the Football Association of Greenland. Although it has the same status as the Faroe Islands within the Kingdom of Denmark, Greenland is not, unlike the Faroe Islands national football team, a member of FIFA nor of any continental confederation and therefore is not eligible to enter the World Cup or other sanctioned tournaments. Most of the matches they have played have been against the Faroe Islands and Iceland, but neither of the two consider those games full internationals. In May 2022 it was announced that Greenland had officially applied to become a member of CONCACAF. Overview The Football Association of Greenland was founded in 1971 to oversee the development of football in the territory, although an island-wide club championship had been held regularly since 1954. Greenland played its first international match on 2 July 1980 against another Danish territor ...

Football Association Of Greenland
The Football Association of Greenland ( Greenlandic: ''Kalaallit Nunaanni Isikkamik Arsaattartut Kattuffiat''; da, Grønlands Boldspil-Union) (KAK) is the governing body of association football in the island country of Greenland. The KAK was founded on 4 July 1971. It runs the men's national team, women's national team, men's futsal team and multiple national championships, from the men's and women's national championships through youth, veterans and futsal variations. Greenland also held three editions of a men's national football friendly tournament, known as the Greenland Cup, from 1980 to 1984. The Greenland Football Association applied to join CONCACAF, a continental body of FIFA, in June 2022. Overview Greenland is not a member of FIFA (as of 2022) and therefore cannot play in the FIFA World Cup. In addition to FIFA, Greenland is neither a member of CONCACAF (although they have put in an application to join) or UEFA. This is because Greenland cannot sustain a grass p ...

Football In Greenland
Association football is the most popular and the national sport of Greenland. It was brought to Greenland by Danish settlers. Because of the climatic conditions, Greenland is unable to support any grass pitches so games are played on artificial turf. The national stadium is the Nuuk Stadium in the capital of Greenland, Nuuk. There is a proposal to replace Nuuk Stadium with a new stadium, named Arktisk Stadion. The Football Association of Greenland, founded in 1971, is not a member of FIFA or any of its confederations, but was a member of the International Football Union and ConIFA, secondary governing bodies of association football for nations and sub-national countries that are not FIFA members. Although the Faroe Islands, another dependency of Denmark, is a member of FIFA and UEFA, Greenland is considered part of Denmark for the purposes of international football. However, Greenland have still been fighting to join UEFA and FIFA. The Greenland football association and the Da ...

Qaqortoq Stadium
The Qaqortoq Stadium is a stadium in Qaqortoq, Greenland. It was completed in September 2010, and it hosts football matches. History The conditions in Greenland meant that matches could only be played between May and September, and on sand and ash pitches as grass cannot be easily grown in the harsh environment. However the Danish Football Association, with financing by the FIFA Goal Programme began laying an artificial grass pitch in the Southern town of Qaqortoq in September 2009. The pitch cost $500,000, of which $400,000 was provided by the FIFA Goal Programme. The venue was handed over to Greenland Football Association president Lars Lundblad by FIFA president Joseph Blatter and DBU president Allan Hansen on 13 September 2010. Qaqortoq mayor Kristine Raahauge said that "Local residents can play sport at any time now, and this has already helped us to reduce the crime rate."
