1993 France Rugby Union Tour Of South Africa
The 1993 France rugby union tour of South Africa was a series of eight matches played by the France national rugby union team in South Africa in June and July 1993. The French team won four matches, drew two and lost two. They won their two match international series against the South Africa national rugby union team, drawing the first game and winning the second for a one-nil series victory. The tour was marred by a serious facial injury suffered by the captain, Jean-François Tordo, who was raked by Garry Pagel in the match against Western Province. Section Paloise (, Bearnese: ), commonly referred to as ''Section'' or as ''Pau'' , is a professional rugby union club based in Pau, France. Philippe Bernat-Salles (born 17 February 1970) is a retired French rugby union player, usually playing as a wing. His main skill was a blinding speed, while he was also visually striking due to his unruly mop of gray hair. Early life Bernat-Salles was born in Pau, Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Philippe Georges Saint-André (; born 19 April 1967) is a former French rugby union footballer and currently the manager of Top 14 side Montpellier. He earned 69 test caps for France between 1990 and 1997. His preferred position was wing but he could also play at centre. Olivier Campan (born 15 March 1970) is a French former rugby union international who represented France in six Test matches during the 1990s. A native of Gers, Campan debuted for France against the Springboks on the 1993 tour of South Africa. He was the starting centre for France in two matches in the 1996 Five Nations Championship. Union sportive Colomiers Rugby or US Colomiers is a French rugby union club currently competing in Pro D2, the second level of the French rugby pyramid. Jean-Luc Sadourny (born 26 August 1966 in Toulouse) is a former French rugby union footballer and a current coach. He played as a fullback. He was nicknamed ''The Old Woman'' (''La Vieille'') and he is generally considered one of the best French players of his generation, a fair successor to Serge Blanco in his position. Sadourny played all his career at US Colomiers, which is based in Colomiers, a suburb of Toulouse. His best result was the 2nd place in the France Top 14 in 2000. Olivier Roumat (born 16 June 1966 in Mont-de-Marsan) is a former French rugby union footballer. He played as a number-eight, openside flanker and lock. Club career Roumat first played at Villeneuve-de-Marsan, moving then to US Dax, where he premiered at 1985/86. He had a brief stint at , in South Africa, in 1995.
