Below are the rosters for the 1993 Copa América tournament in Ecuador, from 15 June to 4 July 1993. The competition featured the debut of two teams ( Mexico and the United States) and as a result the tournament format changed to one with three groups of four teams each. The 1993 Copa América was the 36th Copa América, CONMEBOL's football tournament for national teams. It was held in Ecuador between 15 June and 4 July. All 10 CONMEBOL members took part, but for the first time two nations from outside CONMEBOL were invited to take part in the tournament, to round out the format. Mexico and the United States, both of CONCACAF, were the invited teams for this tournament. Sociedad Deportivo Quito is an Ecuadorian non-professional club football club based in Quito. For most of its existence, it competed in Serie A, the highest level of the Ecuadorian professional football league. And currently competes in the Segunda Categoría de Pichincha. Club Deportivo El Nacional (until 2018 ''Club Especializado de Alto Rendimiento El Nacional'') is an Ecuadorian sports club from Quito, known best for their professional football team. The team currently plays in the Serie A, the first-tier football league in the country after gaining promotion in 2022. El Nacional has thirteen national championships (one less than Emelec and three less than Barcelona). The club has participated in more Copa Libertadores than any other club in Ecuador with 22 appearances. Their best performance in the continental tournament was as a semi-finalist in 1985. Ney Raúl Augusto Avilés Aguirre (born February 17, 1964) is a retired Ecuadorian football striker. He played 55 times for the Ecuador national team, in the forward and center forward position, scoring 16 goals between 1987 and 1993. He attended the Vicente Rocafuerte school where he was part of the students sports league. Avilés started his career in 1985 with 9 de Octubre, he soon joined Club Sport Emelec where he was part of the championship winning team of 1988.
