1993 Big West Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1993 Big West Conference men's basketball tournament was held March 12–14 at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California. 1992–93 Long Beach State 49ers men's basketball team, Long Beach State upset top-seeded 1992–93 New Mexico State Aggies men's basketball team, New Mexico State in the final, 70–62, to capture their second PCAA/Big West title (and first since 1977). The 49ers subsequently received an automatic bid to the 1993 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, 1993 NCAA tournament. Regular-season champions, and tournament runners-up, New Mexico State received an at-large bid. Long Beach Arena
The Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center is a convention center located in Long Beach, California. Built on the former site of the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium, the venue is composed of the Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach Arena, and the Long Beach Performing Arts Center. It is served by the 1st Street station of Los Angeles Metro Rail. History The first Long Beach Municipal Auditorium was completed in 1905. The second Municipal Auditorium was completed in 1932. 1992–93 New Mexico State Aggies Basketball Team
The 1992–93 New Mexico State Aggies basketball team represented New Mexico State University in the 1992–93 college basketball season. This was Neil McCarthy's 8th season as head coach. The Aggies played their home games at Pan American Center and competed in the Big West Conference. They finished the season 26–8, 15–3 in Big West play to win the conference regular season title. They lost in the championship game of the Big West tournament, but received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 7 seed in the East region. In the opening round, New Mexico State defeated No. 10 seed Nebraska, 93–79. The Aggies were then beaten by No. 2 seed Cincinnati in the second round, 85–78. Western Athletic Conference
The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) is an NCAA Division I conference. The WAC covers a broad expanse of the Western United States with member institutions located in Arizona, California, Texas, Utah and Washington (state), Washington.
