1992–93 Long Beach State 49ers Men's Basketball Team
The 1992–93 Long Beach State 49ers men's basketball team represented California State University, Long Beach during the 1992–93 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The 49ers, led by third-year head coach Seth Greenberg, played their home games at Walter Pyramid and are members of the Big West Conference. They finished the season 22–10, 11–7 in Big West play, to finish in fourth place. They were champions of the Big West Basketball tournament to earn the conference's automatic bid into the 1993 NCAA tournament where they lost in the opening round to No. 6 seed Illinois, 75–72. Seth Greenberg
Seth Vincent Greenberg (born April 18, 1956) is an American college basketball broadcaster who works as an analyst for ESPN. Prior to taking the position at ESPN he was a coach for 34 years, the last 22 as a head coach. Greenberg has been the head coach at Long Beach State, the University of South Florida, and Virginia Tech. He was a two-time ACC Coach of the Year. Early life and college playing career Seth Greenberg is one of the three sons of Marilyn and Ralph Greenberg of Plainview, New York. Older brother Brad also became a college basketball coach. After graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in Plainview in 1974, Greenberg attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Lawlor Events Center is northern Nevada's largest multi-purpose arena. It is located in Reno, Nevada at the intersection of North Virginia Street and 15th Street on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. The Provident Credit Union Event Center, formerly and more commonly known as the Event Center Arena, is a complex consisting of an indoor arena and a fitness club on the main campus of San Jose State University in downtown San Jose, California. Selland Arena is a multi-purpose arena built in 1966 that makes up part of a four-venue complex of the Fresno Convention and Entertainment Center in Fresno, California. It is named after former Fresno mayor Arthur L. Selland and has had over 10 million people walk through its doors in its over 50-year history. The Gold Mine is a 1,900-seat multi-purpose arena in Long Beach, California on the campus of California State University, Long Beach. Opened in the late 1950s, it was known as University Gym.
