The 1992–93 Liga Artzit season saw Maccabi Herzliya, Ironi Ashdod and Hapoel Kfar Saba promoted to Liga Leumit, the former two for the first time in their histories. Liga Artzit
Liga Artzit ( he, ליגה ארצית, lit. ''Country League'') is the defunct third division of Israeli Football League, beneath its highest division Premier League and the second division Liga Leumit. Before being cancelled in 2009, it was run by the Israel Football Association. It was replaced by Liga Alef. Structure There were 12 teams in Liga Artzit. Each team played 33 matches; the first 22 matches were played on a home and away basis, with the last 11 fixtures based on league positions after 22 games. Like the majority of leagues in the world, three points were awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. Final League positions were determined firstly by points obtained, then by goal difference, then goals scored, and if necessary, a mini-league of the results between two or more teams ranked using the previous three criteria and finally a series of one or more play off matches. Petah Tikva ( he, פֶּתַח תִּקְוָה, , ), also known as ''Em HaMoshavot'' (), is a city in the Central District (Israel), Central District of Israel, east of Tel Aviv. The Petah Tikva Municipal Stadium, commonly known as HaUrva Stadium ( he, אצטדיון האורווה, ''Itztadion HaUrva'', lit. ''Livery Stable Stadium'') was a multi-use stadium in the central Israeli city of Petah Tikva, and is now a place which is a neighborhood. It was replaced by HaMoshava Stadium in 2011. The stadium was built in 1965, and has two all-seater stands on either side of the pitch with a seated capacity of 6,768. Both ends are undeveloped and are used as parking spaces for team buses. The 1993–94 Liga Leumit season began on 28 August 1993 and ended on 4 June 1994, with Maccabi Haifa winning their fifth title. That season saw one of the best teams in history of Israeli football, according to many pundits, when Maccabi Haifa won the league without suffering a single loss, breaking many Israeli records in the process. In that season (as well as in the previous season) it was decided that three teams will be promoted from Liga Artzit and one relegated from Liga Leumit. The fourth place in Liga Artzit would play against before last (13th) place in Liga Leumit in a Playoff to see which team is to play in the premier league.
