During the 1992–93 English football season, Ipswich Town competed in the inaugural season of the Premier League, following promotion from the First Division the previous season. Season summary In the 1992–93 season, Ipswich had a great start to the campaign and by January 1993, were in fourth place in the league and fans were hoping for at least a UEFA Cup place, maybe even the Premiership title, but a dip in form during the final weeks of the season saw the club finish 16th. Ipswich Town F
Ipswich () is a port town and borough in Suffolk, England, of which it is the county town. The town is located in East Anglia about away from the mouth of the River Orwell and the North Sea. Ipswich is both on the Great Eastern Main Line railway and the A12 road; it is north-east of London, east-southeast of Cambridge and south of Norwich. Ipswich is surrounded by two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB): Suffolk Coast and Heaths and Dedham Vale. Ipswich's modern name is derived from the medieval name ''Gippeswic'', probably taken either from an Anglo-Saxon personal name or from an earlier name given to the Orwell Estuary (although possibly unrelated to the name of the River Gipping). It has also been known as ''Gyppewicus'' and ''Yppswyche''. Craig Forrest
Craig Lorne Forrest (born 20 September 1967) is a Canadian former professional soccer player and sports commentator. As a player, he was a goalkeeper from 1985 until 2002, playing his entire career in England. He made Premier League appearances for Ipswich Town, Chelsea and West Ham United, whilst also spending time on loan in the Football League with Colchester United. He made 56 international appearances, representing Canada. In 2012 as part of the Canadian Soccer Association's centennial celebration, he was named to the all-time Canada XI men's team. David Gregory (footballer, Born 1970)
David Spencer Gregory (born 23 January 1970) is an English retired professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He played alongside his brother Neil whilst at Colchester United and Canvey Island. Career Born in Polstead, Gregory began his career at Ipswich Town, making 32 appearances between 1987 and 1995. He made two appearances on loan at Hereford United and three appearances at Peterborough United after leaving Ipswich. He joined Colchester United in 1995 and spent seven years at Layer Road, making 226 league appearances and scoring 19 goals. Gregory helped the U's to their first league promotion for 22 years in 1998 when he stepped up to put Colchester ahead from the spot in the Third Division playoff final. Boncho Genchev ( bg, Бончо Генчев; born 7 July 1964) is a Bulgarian retired professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder, and a current manager. He started in his home country in the lower leagues before moving to Lokomotiv Gorna and Etar. After one year in Portugal with Sporting, he went to England in 1992 and played in the Premier League with Ipswich Town and in the Football League for Luton Town. Jason Dozzell
Jason Irvin Winans Dozzell (born 9 December 1967) is an English football manager and former professional footballer. As a player, he was a midfielder who notably played in the Premier League for Ipswich Town and Tottenham Hotspur. He also played in the Football League for Northampton Town and Colchester United before finishing his career with non-league sides Canvey Island and Grays Athletic. He was capped nine times at England U21 level. Vlado Bozinovski
Vlado Bozinovski (born 30 March 1964) is an Australian retired footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. Club career Bozinovski immigrated to Australia in his teens, going on to play football in the country for South Melbourne FC and Footscray JUST. In 1989, aged 25, and following a very brief spell in Belgium, he moved to Portugal and joined S.C. Beira-Mar, appearing in 32 league games as the Aveiro club retained its top division status. Staying in the country, Bozinovski signed for giants Sporting Clube de Portugal but, after one single season, returned to his previous club and, in the following year, signed for Ipswich Town in the Premier League. Frank Walter Yallop (born 4 April 1964) is a British-Canadian professional soccer coach. Yallop is currently the head coach and sporting director of USL Championship side Monterey Bay FC. He played 13 years in England for Ipswich, including the club's first three seasons in the Premier League. He also played in Major League Soccer (MLS) for the Tampa Bay Mutiny, and earned 52 caps for the Canada men's national soccer team. Neil Thompson (born 2 October 1963) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. He played for Scarborough, Ipswich Town and Barnsley amongst others. Playing career Thompson was born in Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire. Whilst at Barnsley he played in the 1997–98 Premier League with the South Yorkshire club, appearing in three matches as a starter.
