The CP Women's Open (french: Open féminin du Canada) is a women's professional golf tournament managed by Golf Canada. It has been Canada's national championship tournament since its founding in 1973 LPGA Tour, 1973, and is an official event on the LPGA Tour. History Originally a three-round (54-hole) tournament for its first six years; it has been a four-round (72-hole) tournament since 1978 LPGA Tour, 1978. From 1979 LPGA Tour, 1979 through 2000 LPGA Tour, 2000, the event was one of the LPGA Tour's four Women's major golf championships, major championships. Florence Descampe
Florence Descampe (born 1 September 1969) is a veteran professional golfer from Brussels, Belgium who played on the United States-based LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour. Career Descampe had seven worldwide victories during her career including a win at the 1992 McCall's LPGA Classic on the LPGA Tour. Until Paula Creamer's win at the 2005 Evian Masters, she held the record as the LET's youngest winner after clinching the 1988 Danish Ladies Open. Descampe was a member of the 1992 European Solheim Cup team. Sherri Steinhauer (born December 27, 1962) is an American professional golfer who plays on the Legends Tour. She retired from the LPGA Tour in 2012 after a 26-year career. She was born in Madison, Wisconsin and attended The University of Texas at Austin. Her rookie season on the LPGA Tour was 1986. She has won eight tournaments on the Tour, including two major championships, the 1992 du Maurier Classic and 2006 Women's British Open (she also has two, 1998 and 1999, titles recognized by the Ladies European Tour as majors but not by the LPGA Tour). Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, Andrews played college golf at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and won the North and South Women's Amateur at Pinehurst in 1988.
